Tide is Turning: Canelo Will Beat The Brakes Off Cotto

Post by bnovelist »

Seeing how Cotto's face is bruising up in sparring imagine how his face will look after being hit by Canelo for 12 rounds. In all honesty its better for

US that Canelo wins because he will most likely fight one of the Charlos, Andrade, GGG at 155lbs, etc... Canelo is waaaay better than Margarito

more snap on his punches, more skills, way more technical with his approach, Cotto is in TROUBLE

Canelo barely squeaked by Lara and Trout ... barely, and I think he may have lost to both, but it was close.

Canelo was thoroughly schooled by Floyd, quit very early in the fight, and ended the fight with effort that looked more like an embarrassed bully, than a top level fighter looking to win.

Between those fights he beat Kirkland and Angulo. Two guys who most people thought Canelo would beat by KO.

Never understood this Canelo hype. From the Mexican obsession with his look. To his fraud title fight, one of the most fraudulent in recent history. Even Chaves Jr's title fight was more real. To the fact that boxing has just moved past the Trout and Lara fights like Canelo proved himself. Sick of the "follow the money" bullshit in the sport/world.

Hoping Cotto is able physically dominate Canelo in the same manner Floyd mentally dominated Canelo.

Feels good to have a rooting interest in a fight again, albeit a petty and shallow one.

Canelo did better against Trout then Cotto did. Cotto being "the middleweight champion" is so fraudulent i'm surprised the FBI aint locked him up yet, no middleweight champion in history would need Daniel Geale to weigh in under 157. I don't buy that Freddie has improved him anyone can look good against an old one legged man and a fringe world level weight drained guy.

Both Canelo and Cotto have had very careful matchmaking lately to make them look good. Angulo and Kirkland had major weight issues and looked shot. They are both slow and taylor made to make Canelo look good. Cotto's opponents were hand picked as well. Neither of these guys are elite at 154, much less 160, imo. Floyd make Canelo look like an amatuer. Trout made Cotto look like and amateur. This is a good fight though, between two guys that will have the winner tuck his tail and give up the belt. How impressive is that?

That's all true, but what standard are you trying to hold him to here? I salute the guy just having fought all those guys, young as he still is.
I find him a bit unworthy of his hype too, but I still think he'll beat Cotto.

Canelo will indeed beat Miguel up pretty badly, I think.
And without a doubt, he will be the new PPV king going forward, for whatever that's worth.
The kid has been taken to school a few times, which is to be expected of any young fighter-
But to my eye, he learns from those vets that have taught him some lessons in the ring, win or lose, and keeps improving, and he's got enough experience already at such a young age, to intrigue the hell out of me, as far as the level he could be at, lets say, when he's 30-35.

I think Cotto's veteran skills will not be enough to keep Canelo off him and second guessing while on the back foot like Floyd was able to do.
And Cotto isn't all that much of a mover, though he can for a time. I see The Ginger wearing Cotto down until he's eventually battering him badly.
Cotto is one of my favorite fighters, but Canelo is the truth, and younger, stronger and bigger to boot.
