Why not Manny Pacquiao vs. Viktor Postol?

Post by Freedom2013 »

I think Viktor Postol by beating Lucas Matthysse deserves a shot at Manny Pacquiao.

But I know Bob Arum won't do it. He'll put Pacquaio in with another no-hoper, someone like the feather-fisted Chris Algieri.

Postol made just $100,000 for fighting Matthysse, and has never had a decent payday in his life. He deserves better!

He doesn't deserve a Pacquiao fight.

Would be a solid fight, but I don't think Postol is much of a ticket-seller. Pacquiao - Khan would probably make twice as much money. However, I believe Arum co-promotes Postol, so if he thinks Postol can beat Pacquiao, he will probably want to make the fight. If Arum thinks Postol wouldn't beat Pacquiao, then he probably wouldn't make the fight.

If you think Arum is trying to give Pacquiao a soft touch for his last fight, you're out of your mind. Arum is looking for what makes the most money, he is looking for an outcome that best strengthens his stable, and he is looking for an outcome that best weakens the stable of rival promoters. So if one of Arum's fighters can beat Pacquiao, especially one of his younger fighters, then that's what he wants. If Pacquiao can beat one of Arum's rivals, then that's also what he wants. Arum is not looking for Pacquiao to dominantly defeat a Top Rank fighter in Pacquiao's last fight.

100% Accurate. :TU:
This is why I picture Crawford as the leading candidate. It makes sense for the long run

No, but I can't remember anyone whining on their behalf about how much they deserved that fight before they got it.

Since Matthysse was being seriously considered if he won, why not Postol? That is basically the same scenario when Algieri got the fight. What ever the opponent, you can bank on it being an in-house TR match.

postol followed a great game plan vs matthysse.
who trains postol for a pac fight, since freddie surely
knows all postol's weaknesses and will be training pac?
i could see pac going down to 140 for the title in that one
