GGG boxing idol is Chavez sr.
I know GGG studies Chavez sr and mimics his style after him. The cutting off the ring, body attack specifically that left hook and subtle yet effective defense when wanted.
But never knew Sr. Was one of his boxing idols.

That is coming from Abel Sanchez. Gennady has much more variety in him than Chavez Sr though.

Thats not Sanchez its Loeffler saying thats what GGG has said.ikorolev wrote:That is coming from Abel Sanchez. Gennady has much more variety in him than Chavez Sr though.
And lol at GGG having more variety in him than Chavez sr. i doubt you've seen much of a prime Chavez sr. and no i dont mean chavez of the 90's.
Its hilarious to say that cuz ggg hasnt even faced a Fraction of the level of comp Sr. has faced. GGG would be lucky to be half as great as Chavez sr. was.
Some ppls children.

i've seen GGG and jcc on one of the spanish channels breaking down a fight together.
they asked if GGG knew who jcc was and GGG said he knew who jcc was and was
complimentary but said nothing about modeling his fighting style after jcc and GGG
is much more open than jcc, who fought out of a shell. their footwork and setup is
completely different. GGG definitely admires the action mexican fighters bring but
it's a reach saying GGG models himself after jcc.

they are right next to each other talking about each other

As great as Chavez Sr. was, no way will anyone beat Triple G as easily as Whitaker did to Chavez.
Re: GGG boxing idol is Chavez sr.
By the time Pernell got his mitts on Chavez, Julio had about 80 pro fights behind him and addiction issues though Whittaker (a hall of famer) would have won in any case.Baby Face Finster wrote:As great as Chavez Sr. was, no way will anyone beat Triple G as easily as Whitaker did to Chavez.

Loefler was talking about it, but it is instilled by Sanchez.kidbazooka1 wrote:Thats not Sanchez its Loeffler saying thats what GGG has said.ikorolev wrote:That is coming from Abel Sanchez. Gennady has much more variety in him than Chavez Sr though.

Speaking about variety, Golovkin shows more, not less when he faces a challenge, so you will see more of him against tougher opposition.

Yes im sure you know more about what GGG really thinks than the guy who actually promotes GGG.ikorolev wrote:Loefler was talking about it, but it is instilled by Sanchez.kidbazooka1 wrote:Thats not Sanchez its Loeffler saying thats what GGG has said.ikorolev wrote:That is coming from Abel Sanchez. Hahaha wow do you even know who Parnell Whitaker was?Baby Face Finster wrote:As great as Chavez Sr. was, no way will anyone beat Triple G as easily as Whitaker did to Chavez.
How sure can you be about that has GGG faced anyone remotely as skilled as Whitaker?
C'mon ppl you know better than that.
Ward is no where near the defensive genius sweet pea was yet GGG and his ppl want no part of him.
And on top of all that Chavez was no longer in his prime when he faced Whittaker and was fighting in his 4th weight class against arguably the greatest defensive fighter of all time.
How many weight classes has GGG fought in? Oh thats right only 1.
