Hi everyone. Quick query in relation to Guyana's Reggie Ford, http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
I interviewed Reggie when I wrote Kirkland Laing's biography a few years back. I was always quizzical about whether the Bobby Boogaloo Watts fight was his debut (as most record books listed it as such, but it seems like a crazy first fight to me), but despite my research, I could find nothing earlier. I pressed Reggie on it (being a natural sceptic myself!) when I spoke to him, but his account of how it was his first fight and all the background (including Guyana pulling out of the 1976 Olympics at a late stage etc) all seemed to hang together.
I see that his record now on Boxrec includes 17 straight wins before that. I'd love to know who dug those out and what the source is - am not disputing them, but am just geeky about this kind of thing, particularly given the detailed research I did on this.
Thanks for any help you can give!
Reggie Ford - first 17 fights...
Re: Reggie Ford - first 17 fights...
OK - now I am really confused, as those first 17 fights have now been taken back off Boxrec. What is going on?! Could someone please explain?
Re: Reggie Ford - first 17 fights...
They have been taken off indeed. The fights came from an unreliable source and never took place. You were correct all along.
