Not so much 'couldn't handle intense training any more' - as 'wasn't able to get his wheelchair up the steps to the ring.'

Yeah, He was due to be GGG's first opponent for his first US fight 3 years ago. Which should have told everyone what we know bout Golovkin now back then.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I recall when Richard Williams lost to Martinez, who nobody thought was a world beater back then, the general school of thought was Williams was not cut out for world level, if he could not beat Martinez the chances of going on to win a world title were slim. Now we know what Martinez was really all about, that Williams lost to a master boxer, probably a hall of fame fighter, it would have been interesting to see what Williams might have been able to achieve at middleweight had he fought on at the weight.

For old timers, if Harry Greb and Stanley Ketchel didn't die at 32 and 24 respectively who knows what could have been. Mostly Ketchel of course. 64 fights by age of 24. He won 83% of them and won by KO 91% of them. Beast. Not sure if Jimmy Jeffries retired early but he only fought 24 fights..Ali lost 3 years due to the government but he didn't exactly retire young. And of course Ray Leonard
