Les Sherrington now has a new trainer, Luke Meldon, at Steve Deller’s gym in Brisbane. He split with his former Toowoomba trainer and manager Brendan Smith.

“There have been some big changes but I’m loving it with Luke up there in Brisbane,” Sherrington said. “This fight is massive for me. The winner goes to No.3 in the WBA and earns a shot at a world title.

“All my career I’ve been wanting this sort of fight and I know if I’m right and ready to go, mentally and physically, I can match it with anyone in the world.”

Two Year Wait Over For Sherro.

The loss to Sam Soliman two years ago knocked Les Sherrington out of the world rankings and it has taken him this long to secure another chance to prove himself on the big stage.

Sherro takes on Antoine Douglas 18-0-1 in Las Vegas in a fight that will be aired on the November 6th edition of Showtime's ShoBox series.

"This fight is something I have been waiting my whole career for and I plan on giving it my best shot,'' he said. "I can't wait to get over to America and showcase my skills. Fighting top-tier fighters is all I've ever asked.''

Not a bad KO record for Les looking at that promo 45 KOs from 42 fights.

At just over 100% his KO% is the highest in boxing history, and he's an Aussie :yay:

Sherrington Pumped To Show Off Skills With Douglas

http://www.BS.com/sherrington- ... las--97629?

Les Sherrington gets the long overdue chance to prove himself on the big stage and bright lights of Las Vegas time when he takes on Unbeaten rising star Antoine "Action" Douglas in a clash of world-ranked middleweights in the main event of a quadrupleheader live on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast) on Friday, Nov. 6, at Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC), across from the D Las Vegas in iconic Downtown Las Vegas.

Sherrington will be fighting outside of his native land for only the second in this, his U.S. and 2015 debuts. He's won two in a row and is 8-1 in his last nine fights, the loss coming to former IBF World Middleweight Champion Soliman in December 2013.

Since the defeat to Soliman that knocked him out of the world rankings, Sherrington has been looking to redeem himself in a major matchup in a major stage. This is his opportunity.

"This fight is something I have been waiting my whole career for and I plan on giving it my best shot,'' he said. "I can't wait to get over to America and showcase my skills. Fighting top-tier fighters is all I've ever asked.''

Another reality check for Australian boxing.

Too often our fighters when venturing overseas get beaten up due to the lack of regular and decent lead-up fights at home.

In this case Les had not fought for 11 months and this bad loss may spell the end of the section.
