Massive Russian card

Just caught up with this card, excellent stuff. And fvcking hell, what a finisher from Afolabi

Just finished watching,another brilliant mental card

Povetkin-Wach was pretty poor in all honesty,Povetkin was dominant without really dazzling,dont get me wrong it was a good performance from Alexander and he was in total control,he did struggle a bit with Wach's size and negatitvity,Wach had a good first round and instead of taking confidence just went into safety mode and it made for a pretty boring fight

Troyanovsky-Cuenca was even worse,i was glad when Cuenca quit,he's a great mover,pretty quick and has a solid defence but he was just too negative tonight and basically gave his title to Eduard

Lebedev-Kayode looked as if it was gonna be boring too especially with Lateef doing next to nothing early rounds but as soon as Lebedev upped the pace it was pretty exciting and a terrific finish

Afolabi deserves a he shipped a lot of big shots early doors but kept it tight and showed his mettle and the punch to KO Chakhkiev was first class

Strange one with Kudryashev,he seemed uninterested when getting hit left ,right and centre and could have no complaints

Is it me, or is Povetkin blowing a bit? He's doing very well, but I wonder how long he can keep it up against such a monster (lucky for him, Wach is too inept to lean all over the Russian; he lacks the modern heavyweight's best weapon, the patented Klitschko hug & lean-on).

He always has. I think it's a conscious effort to bring in more oxygen, rather than a fatigue thing.

I've been re-watching this. Buffer announcing Povetkin-Wach as for "the prestigious WBC heavyweight title" - deliberately misleading and vague (I know he's only reading out what he's told to.)
Having brought up Deontay Wilder's comments about Povetkin and steroids, commentator John Rawling then helpfully comments that to him Povetkin doesn't have the look of somebody on steroids. I wonder what Rawling thought of James Toney's look?
I feel this dim view of the public is more and more prevalent - you see it with the curious fixation of undefeated records, alphabet titles and the lack of a discerning eye towards them, and using any ratings they can find that suit their agenda. It feels rather contemptuous actually.

Yes noticed that, JR really is an idiot, and when the pompous fool qualified that with " and I've seen a few" the ever astute Barry Jones tellingly made no comment...

Hate to say it but I reckon most of the Russian flighters on that card will have been on "the program" - The Russians do it with their athletes without blinking an eye, and there're millions at stake here, so I'd be amazed if they didn't.

Just check out the latest from the Russian whistleblowing athletes and the comments from the head of the Russian athletics Federation saying they're very careful when to test and when not to.

You didn't mention Dmitry Bivol did you see his fight? The guy is only 24 and only had his 5th fight but you would think he is a seasoned pro due to his patience and calmness in the ring, also has great shot selection and punches hard enough. With Kovalev, Stevenson, Ward and Beterbiev all over 30 I think he has a chance to be the no.1 LHW in the future.
