Maidana Contemplating Retirement
Maidana Contemplating Retirement
Interesting, after the 2 losses to Mayweather, Maidana very well may never fight again. http://www.BS.com/marcos-maida ... cia--97681
Re: Maidana Contemplating Retirement
i think he made the maximum out of his abilities
he had enough luck to get a shot at big "money"
and well deserved the second one, so he retires a
healthy man. wish him all the best. not the cleanest
of fighters, but one with a refreshing attitude when
it comes to match making.

Re: Maidana Contemplating Retirement
He probably from a really poor background and now he made loads of money from his last two fights just lacks motivation. I know he had a kid just before the first Mayweather fight and recently got married. Good luck to him loved watching him fight and I will fondly remember his beat down of Broner.
Re: Maidana Contemplating Retirement
This is how it should be. A fighter maximises his earnings then retires young and healthy. I think i read he bought a large ranch in Argentina and will be comfortable for the rest of his life. Sounds like a success story to me.
The dilemma is that he is at the peak of his earning potential and it's a small window. If his heart isn't in it i hope he stays retired and sensible with his money.

Hit the jackpot against Floyd. He did well to come back from the Alexander shut out defeat. I always felt Maidana-Matthysse would be one of the best match ups in the sport, but with hindsight I don't think LM could have matched Maidana for heart when it got really tough for both of them.

Excellent stuff if true. Maidana grew up poor and now he hopefully gets to retire well-off and with his marbles and having had a great career.Datsue wrote:Shirow wrote:This is how it should be. Just a game, at the end of the day. I love maidana. One of my favorite fighters. Get fat and have BBQ El Chino! It's just a sport!

x2 I've got so much respect for the guy , super tough and he was put in so many fights he was supposed to lose but didn't . If he walks away now and has enough money for the rest of his life good luck to him!Shirow wrote:This is how it should be. A fighter maximises his earnings then retires young and healthy. That's one story he has for his grand children .
Well kids there was this massive bell end called Adrian Broner, he was an obnoxious gob shite but was an undefeated 3 weight world champion and they put me in there with him as an opponent who was supposed to lose but I beat him like a little child!!!! And then I fought Floyd twice and made bank and that is why you all live in this mansion
Re: Maidana Contemplating Retirement
All of his family want him to call it a day except his dad wants him to have one more fight. He says he doesn't want to even consider putting on the gloves, he doesn't care that he is over weight, he does a little cycling for fun when he feels like it, no more than that, he goes hunting and is spending quality life with his family, loving every minute. He gets up at 11am every morning to feed his dogs and fucks around with them till the afternoon on the farm.
Sounds like a man not getting back in the ring doesn't it! He must know that some more serious coin is available and turned his back, good for him.

Re: Maidana Contemplating Retirement
he did very well.for a street fighter.a real street fighter.went on to fight Floyd and gave him a good fight, watching him on that 24, you see as soon as his child came his responsibility changed , good man never let any one down
Re: Maidana Contemplating Retirement
Shame, still gives any active welterweight a real fight. Not many would fancy taking on the Argentinian wildman. For me only Thurman would start as more than 60-40 fav to win
. Maidana Khan or Maidana Brook would be ideal for UK fans...
