Your Dream Super Six for 2016?
Your Dream Super Six for 2016?
If you could choose any fighters in any weight to take part in a super six next year, who would it be?
Cotto, Canelo, Golovkin, Lemieux, Lee and Saunders at middleweight? (With all of these scheduled to fight each other this may end up turning into a tournament anyway)
Walters, Selby, Lomachenko, Russell jr, Santa Cruz and Mares at featherweight?
Thurman, Bradley, Khan, Brook, Garcia and Porter or Spence to crown the new king at welterweight?

Fonfara vs Alvarez vs Beterbiev vs Pascal vs Chilemba vs Gonzalez
Re: Your Dream Super Six for 2016?
Featherweight and welterweight look very good. In the MW, the winner is clear but the other fights would be very interesting.
For LHW, I would love to see these:
Kovalev
Stevenson
Beterbiev
Ward
Pascal
Alvarez or Chilemba

Cruiser might be the most difficult to pick a winner from. You wouldn't include Drozd or Hernandez?Chepppaaa wrote:cw

Re: Your Dream Super Six for 2016?
I think right now, cruiserweight and welterweight and ideal hosts for this tournament format. Lightweight would also be good enough. These are divisions that have 6 roughly equal guys at the top, most of whom have not fought most of the others, and no clearly top guys who stand out too far.
Cruiserweight: Grigory Drozd, Krzysztof Glowacki, Denis Lebedev, Ilunga Makabu, Oleksandr Usyk, Rakhim Chakhkiev
Welterweight: Kell Brook, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Timothy Bradley, Danny Garcia, Amir Khan / Lamont Peterson / Errol Spence
Lightweight: Terry Flanagan, Jorge Linares, Denis Shafikov, Mickey Bey, Dejan Zlaticanin, Rances Barthelemy if he can make 135 otherwise Algenis Mendez

Another vote for cruiser weight here.
I don't remember the last time there was a definitive no1 in that division.
My only problem would be picking 6.
The 4 champions Lebedev, Drozd, Glowacki, Ramirez. Hernandez and Huck have to be considered along with Usyk, Kudryashov and Chakhkiev and a number of others who are almost there too.
It's a division with plenty of depth and a good few fighters sitting just outside the top 10 with undefeated records who I know little about *(certainly not enough to write them off)
You could almost pick 16 names and have a knockout tournament with a round of 16, a quarter final, semi, then final.

Re: Your Dream Super Six for 2016?
So who would you make favourite to win your Super 6? Maybe a Cotto-Wilder final, yeah? Now that's a fight. We could have a Bar Mitzvah ceremony in the ring before the fight where the two finalists get circumcised.jewboypgh wrote:well Einstein its obvyous you don't know jack about boxing. At 175, throw Marcus Browne in there.
I want to see what he could do.
You already know a Chilemba or Fonfara aren't winning.
