Joseph Parker's next two opponents are.....

Post by crusader »

...crap

Daniel Martz and Jason Bergman. I like that he's staying busy and realize that he's very young for a HW, but this type of opposition is underwhelming.

I'm a little disappointed as well, but for someone who's boxing every 2 months, or even less, I can't blame him that much.

His opponents have been exceptional so far, though I agree those are not so good.

I looked up boxrec and there are 3 other undefeated guys out of New Zealand. Those should be some good selling fights for Joe.

Yeah he's blowing Wilder out of the water at this point. He fought Botha in like his 4th fight.

Not difficult to have tougher early matchmaking than Wilder did.

Parker has already shown far more than enough to drub these guys and I think a step up is appropriate, whether Wilder fought shittier opponents at a similar stage or not. Parker is fun to watch though and I'll probably still try to catch these fights if I can.

Interesting as both Martz and Bergman share the same manager......

By the way, I'm sure there will be plenty of hype from Parker's team about Martz's size, but take a look at the 5'10" journeyman who stopped him in 3 minutes and 21 seconds earlier this year:

A bit disappointing.

It's good Parker is staying busy, but I'd like to see him fight someone like Fujimoto or Leapai now.

Given his frequent activity, this is forgivable. If he were to fight 2 top 50 opponents in a span of 12 months, it would be pretty great. Realistically, he might fight 2 top 50 opponents in addition to 4 not top 50 opponents within the next 12 months. So there's no reason to complain that he's cramming in some filler between the big fights. The justification seems to be that they're trying to get him experience against tall fighters and southpaws, and this makes perfect sense. Start with easy tall guys and southpaws, then progress to better tall fighters and southpaws later on. Just because he's beat Kali Meehan doesn't mean his first foray against giants and southpaws need to be against Ustinov and Charles Martin.

I don't know nothing bout Martz but hes from WV so he probably sux. Bergman aint that good, but he's a southpaw
who can really punch hard. I seen Bergman KO Buster Douglas's undefeated and I cazme away impressed. he aint as
bad as his record. I aint never seen martz fight.
Bergman is handled by Pat Nelson and that other kid probably is too. I wouldn't know Nelson if he walked up and pinched my ass, but I heard he's a real snake with the local fighters. he aint got Sammy Vasquez Jr. Vasquez is too smart for that nonsense.

Think Kyotaro has turned him down twice, he's not stupid I guess.
