There have been some good match-ups (the matchmaking seems better when the bouts are between foreign fighters or lower-level guys), but also a fair bit of dross, and I don't think it's a vast improvement over the pre-PBC situation.
And I'll tell you what BI, you know what I find even more strange than complaining about PBC? Having a hissy fit and screaming agenda just because some people predicted that Povetkin would beat Wilder if they fought (no bias in your pick of Wilder though, right?), or crying racism because a couple people mentioned Ward in a thread about dirty fighters (you mentioned Maidana by the way--you must be a racist asshole then). It's laughably ironic to see one of the forum's most agenda-driven posters moan so much about others doing the same, whether they really are or not.
Great memory, fortunately, mine is good too.
It wasn't predictions that Wilder would lose, it was people being totally dismissive of Wilder.
More dismissive of him than other fighters. Most of those same people wouldn't say Anthony Joshua loses to Povetkin KO 2.
I understand much of the criticism, but I think the Wilder haters have gone a bit too far.
The Maidana thing came when you guys were calling Ward the dirtiest fighter ever because he was beating up your boys.
I was comparing him to other fighters who are also dirty, but got no criticism about it.
I think Maidana committed at least one foul that could have or did result in a point loss in every fight I seen him in.
Are you seriously denying that he isn't a dirty fighter?
The PBC thing is as stands. I've been a serious fan for 11 years.
Many times I lost interest in the sport for months because there simply wasn't enough content.
Based on that experience, I can't see any logical fan being ready to dismiss any boxing organization
that's putting on 22 shows in 3 months.
I would be defend HBO the same way. I would defend Top Rank the same way.
But, in the reality we share, only the PBC is doing it.
So why would any logical fan want this organization to end immediately?
Please enlighten me.
Your memory actually doesn't seem too good. If you read the Wilder-Povetkin thread again (
http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... 855&hilit=) you should see that before you posted opinions were split between Wilder and Povetkin, and there were also multiple posters who suggested that it would be an easy win for Wilder (no rant about people being dismissive of AP though). Then you came in and stated:
The Euro-bias is in full effect. Wilder KO's Povetkin or cruises to an easy decision.
Or we can do thing where we say Wilder will lose every fight, and when he finally does, we all say he was a bum.
Of course when someone is extremely biased they tend to interprete things in a distorted way, and if you read the above thread and see that as an example of Wilder bashing I think that applies to you in this case.
The Ward racism accusations were an even more glaring example of this and I remember them quite well as a result. About two or three people briefly mentioned Ward, including Saad, who vehemently supported many black boxers during his time here and even took his appellation from one of them. Ward had recently been in fights which featured him heading butting and elbowing opponents, so there were grounds for him being named, yet you came storming in playing the race card as if the same factors that led you to choose Marcos Maidana (you racist bro?) couldn't possibly be applied to Ward. It's unfortunate that there are people like you who are so quick to unreasonably accuse others of racism, as this is the type of thing that just contributes to further animosity between groups while impeding positive interaction.
As for PBC, I already noted that I think it's been okay so far, and I believe that some people probably have a bias that prevents them from fairly evaluating the quality of its product. There have been, however, many mismatches despite Haymon having a very large pool of talent to draw from, so I think some criticism is justified and I find it hypocritical that you so often cry agenda if people disagree with you when you're one of the most agenda-driven posters around.
Thanks for bringing back the topic.
You didn't mention that 60 people chose Povetkin to win by KO/TKO ...
Also, Euro-bias doesn't mean a bias against black people.
You do know that there are many European black people right?
When I made my counter point, I believe I used another black person.
Anthony Joshua is black right?
If my point was racial, why would I use a black person?
To the Ward point ...
How many times has Ward been deducted a point in the last 10 years?
How many times has Maidana been deducted a point in the last 10 fights?
I don't think me mentioning Maidana has anything to do with race.
A person who commits fouls is dirty. Right?
I have tried to get away from the race thing here, and I have.
I never mentioned race in this topic. Never.
Why are you trying to bring it up?
When I said "an agenda", I meant working for HBO or something.
I think I mentioned that.
If you want to tie someone to race every time they respond,
isn't there someone else here who is a known racist? Why not harass him?
You never do. Even though every other topic he posts has a racial/Euro bias undertone.
IS IT BECAUSE I'M BLACK(ish)?
I'd like to discuss boxing with you.
If you don't want to do that. Get lost.
