Not sure Mayweather would have made 135 for very long on the old same day weigh ins. He was a naturally bigger man. Ken was still making same day 135 into his mid 30s.
Beyond that to be really accurate we'd need to put Ken on the same PEDs as Mayweather so as to properly compare them.
As we can't do any of that I'd make a guess and say Mayweather something like 9-6 in rounds.

Re: Ken Buchanan vs Floyd Mayweather
Great view, my brother! I liked this post. I like Ken Buchanan. He was a sensational boxer. I don't mind him losing to a phenomenal great boxer like Floyd Mayweather, Jr.FrozenMixedVegtables wrote:I choose Mayweather by a few rounds in a very competitive fight. Ken had a great jab and was very fleet of foot. He was also a great counter puncher with fast hands. On top of that he was clever and could fight going forward. He had an iron head and fighting spirit to match
I think Buchanan would be open to Floyds speedy pot shots as he had a low guard and leaned in head first when going to the body leaving him open to uppercuts. Floyd would see this. I don't think Floyds faced anybody with the footwork and persistent varied jab that Ken possessed. No one's getting knocked out that's for sure. I think this would be a very technical match as both are beautiful boxers. Floyd is more athletic and more patient than Ken. Ken would eventually get bored and frustrated and in result take risks, risks Floyd would take advantage of.
Oh and btw the underrating of Ken on this thread is ridiculous. Make no mistake about it no way does Ken get beat by any of Floyds lightweight opponents. Please don't compare Castillo with Duran.
And you're right. I don't see any of Pretty Boy Floyd's opponents from lightweight and under beating Ken Buchanan, either.

I agree with you 100%.
Ken Buchanan was better than what others in this forum given credit for. I believe, if the great Roberto Duran was not on his era, he would've had a much better career at 135lbs. Still, he was pretty good and clever.
And like you have said, I don't see Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya nor Juan Manuel Marquez beating him. Buchanan was that good.

KB was a great fighter and no mistake. He was one of the greatest fighters the uk has ever produced and would be in an all time uk fighter top 10 and maybe even top5. He wouldnt have beaten Floyd though. Floyd wins a slightly disputed in some quarters points decision.

The fight would've been a great one. A battle of great boxing skills by both sides by two special fighters that understand and knew boxing skill.cfang wrote:KB was a great fighter and no mistake. I got to rank the great Floyd Mayweather, Jr. very high right now in the pound per pound ATG rankings. I think he should be in the top ten now. We gotta give this man his due. I will be the first one on this forum to admit that.
Re: Ken Buchanan vs Floyd Mayweather
I think this would be close, but Mayweather to win on points ....................... Hardly surprising really, Buchanan is in his 70's now.

The great Floyd Mayweather, Jr. may win this one, but, it ain't gonna be easy.
Not even close Mayweather wins with a leg in the air
