Does Anyone Give Whyte a Chance?

I want to see Dillian win, he seems a good lad and isn't putting anything on. Fed up of Hearn going over the top about Joshua and it would be great to see how he explains it away when he has told anyone who will listen that Joshua is the Second Coming.

Maybe harsh on Joshua as he seems a decent fella himself behind all the hype.

you hear over the years of Boxers that have won in the amatuers having there number and doing in in the pros

spring to mind for me - Groves V Deale and Forrest v Mosley ( who were both Big underdogs )

im sure there are lots of examples though where the amateur result has been reversed

I think Whyte is very much underated. I have watched a lot of his pro fights and although he seems to have progressed slower than Joshua he is definitely live.

One (slightly) interesting Whyte opponent is Marcello Luiz Nascimento. Whyte had him down and not wanting to continue inside 2 rounds. It took Tyson Fury 5 rounds, Manuel Charr 8 rounds, Carlos Takem 4 rounds, Eddie Chambers to points and in his last outing took Chisora the full 10 rounds.

I know Joshua is a different animal but to say that Whyte isn't even European standard is very harsh imo.

One other man who has been in with both men is Wlad Klitschko in sparring. He is of the opinion that Joshua is the better man but that Whyte is also improving rapidly.

I fully expect Joshua to keep his momentum going and win handily but i am sure Whyte will go on and have success after this fight.

I make Joshua favourite, but Whyte does have a chance. The one weakness I perceive in Joshua is that he's a little stiff looking. I'm not sure he possesses the natural ability to ride a punch. That natural relaxation just isn't in him.

We'll see but I wouldn't be surprised if Whyte clocked him and knocked him.

Their amatuer fight was very competive and Whyte deserved the win IMO. Whether this has a bearing on this fight now, I really don't know.

Where as Dillian knows the pressure is not at him and is loving the ocasion of potentially causing a huge upset. Wether this all comes in to play fight night is another thing. Cant see it going past 5 though with both maybe hitting the canvas. Good fight!

I imgaine it is possible to be scared of a guy physically, but still be confident of beating him the ring With gloves on. This might be the case With AJ and Whyte. AJ might not fancy his chances in a street fight and thus is a bit wary of Whyte and not confident around him, but With the protection a boxing ring provides I think he knows he will beat him.

It`s a bit like when I got busy with James Toney in the Queue at a Burger King one night. He knew he would have handled me easily with a pair of gloves on under Queensbury rules, but the look in his eye betrayed him and told me that he knew the score. He knew full well that in a straightner on the cobbles, he mush was getting kicked clean off.

I know AJ has come on leaps and bounds but Dillian still has that convincing win over him in the amateurs flooring him twice which plays in his head. This will be the first fight he will have his chin truly tested i feel which i why i give Dillian a big chance.

Sure, Whyte has a chance... Anything can happen with the Heavyweight division... But I am leaning toward AJ. But I'd like to see Whyte land a heavy shot or two, just to see what would happen.

Of course there is a chance. Whyte has beat him already in their amateur encounter and knocked him down twice in doing so.

Whyte hasn't lost as a pro and not been further than 4 rounds. Joshua, whilst looking good has beaten absolutely nobody of note to date as a pro... So yes Whyte has to have a chance.

Joshua looks like he has improved considerably offensively as a pro, more so than Whyte.

But there are questions to be answered about AJ's chin as it has not been tested yet as a pro. As an amateur, whilst not looking David Price-esque he was put down a couple of times, stopped a couple of times and buzzed quite a few times in the Olympic wins. It looks average at best and his defence hasn't looked great so far.

Joshua is rightly favourite to win, but IMO Whyte has been placed as far more of an underdog by the bookmakers than he should be. Dillian absolutely could win, whereas Cornish had a >1% chance. I'd say Whyte has a 35-40% chance.
