You could also argue that it was really judo vs kick boxer. To me ronda rousey looked so weight drained at the weigh in i thought if holm coukd get her into 3rd or 4th rnd she would stop her anyway because of this, her eyes wer grey and after the first round she was blowin out her arse
Yeah, she did look incredibly tired - she hadn't exerted that much energy at that point, and to be honest she hadn't shipped that much punishment either to be looking so ragged. She looked pretty much shattered from the start of the 2nd round.

It would be interesting to see a rematch. Perhaps she was just totally weight drained.
Do we know how much she cuts?

I've no idea, I didn't even know she struggled to make weight.

Never heard anything about her struggling in the past like we have with McGregor. She definitely looked spent after the 1st round though.

McGregor has got the biggest Noggin to body ratio I think I've ever seen, he must have to scoop out his brain and replace it after the weight in to cut weight - might explain some of the stupid-ass drivel he comes out with.

Cmon man. Look at the fight she did not ever attempted a tekedown, Otherwise what stops her from charging into opponents waist or the legs, she was boxing. You have to also know that her coach, an Armenian dude, has been heavy criticized for emphasizing punching and Rouse was moving away from wrestling in recent time.
To be fair ronda did try two take downs one failed one succeeded but holm got straight up then took rousey down but rousey tried to strike with a striker and come off 2nd best remember this divison is only a few years old and to give rousey a little credit,as the champion and believeing she could beat anyone at their own game she tried it and failed i hope she learned her lesson,to win a fight do what your good at dont do what your opponent is good at cause theres a very strong chance you will come off 2nd best. The rematch will be a different story imo,i predict a first round arm bar submission to holm :TU:

Gotta disagree with you there. McGregor is great entertainment, has some brilliant quotes and so far, backs pretty much everything up. His movement and how freely he fights his fantastic to watch. His mind is bulletproof so nothing phases him.

I find him a bit of a bell-end, but hey, he's not there to win popularity contests.

If he wins against Jose aldo, then he's definitely the real deal, he should be the underdog going in, as Jose is more experienced, and a more polished fighter. McGregor was getting screwed by Chad Mendes for much of the fight until he pulled off the win, Jose is unlikely to let him off the hook with a similar scenario.

I'm unconvinced McGregor is the real deal, I know little about MMA, but his publicity machine, a la Rousey is generating a huge amount of interest bringing a real buzz about the sport.
People either love him or will tune in to see him beat.
Having Rousey and McGregor will generate much more money for the sport than Holm and Aldo.

I agree, Coco - that was the first Rousey fight I've seen and am absolutely underwhelmed, the hype was silly.

That Aldo is a very effective fighter from all accounts and may pop another hugely hyped fighters bubble.

With the amount of money generated there must be the possibility of some shenanigans.

Is she still the main star in the remake of "Roadhouse" & will the new tagline be "You're Dalton? I thought you'd be concious?"

I really can't believe everyone bought the hype on Ronda Rousey in the first place! The UFC basically brought her into their knowing she had beat the 2nd best Bantamweight in Meisha Tate. If you look at most of her opponents they were pretty new to the MMA game and had never been involved in fight at the highest level, Ronda had that experience with Strikeforce. If you had 2 good wins as a Bantamweight in the UFC or even 1 sometimes you got a shot at Ronda. People go on about the hype about boxers like Broner etc but when the same thing happens to Ronda Rousey its all about the tactics!! haha

On the fight itself, it was nothing more than a masterclass of a fighter that has trained hard to become a complete MMA fighter in Holly Holm has had great careers in Boxing, Kickboxing and now in MMA, she does that by working hard to perfect herself in all disciplines not just being a 1 trick pony like Ronda Rousey. This was shown when Holly mixed her punches, kicks, stuffed takedowns and used great footwork to make ronda look slow and like a novice fighter with no ring skills or the smarts to change what was happening.

Ronda has don the worst thing possible as a professional athlete and believed her own hype and didn't carry on learning all of the disciplines needed to stay at the top of the UFC tree. I can only see 1 winner in a rematch and that is Holly Holm and the only way Ronda will ever manage to beat Holly would be to take her head out of the clouds and stop being a diva, get herself back training and learning and be a bit more humble in her approach. Become a more rounded fighter and have a few fights before even contemplating a return.

I expect Aldo to win, and I think he will stop him. He's technically much better than McGregor - McGregor is effective, but he almost came a cropper against Chad Mendez, who had him in a world of trouble.

I'm guessing you must have won a hell of a lot of money on Holm if it was all so obvious?

Don't even know why I'm commenting on the Floyd/Rousey debate but Floyd would obviously win. We're talking about an ATG boxer with some of the best defensive skills, footwork, counter punching etc. of all time against a female Judo fighter in a fight that starts with stand-up/boxing. Ridiculous debate even while Rousey was undefeated.

I have been saying this for ages about Ronda Rousey, I watch quite a bit of MMA and watched her from her debut to last night and that included the coaching she did on the Ultimate Fighter. Mesha Tate was the only real threat till Holly Holm and the way Dana White acted like she was the next coming did her no favours. She had a massive ego and imo it showed on Saturday.

For what it's worth I think it will be similar when Conor McGregor faces someone with an all round game and is as big as him at the weight.

I know alot of people have commented on RR not trying to use take down but given she is a Judo expert not a wrestler she needs to come running in close to get a throw down as opposed to a traditional leg grab a wrestler would use.

Yes a wrestlers take down is more effective against a boxer but that is not what RR is good at..

Or thinking that Sam Burgess would make a better union player than Luther Burrell.
