Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
I agree. A total waste of time fight. In fairness to Kovalev, I get the impression he would go in with anyone. Equally, I get the impression that Adonis Stevenson doesn't really fancy a fight with Kovalev.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Pascal did give him a fight. It was a convincing win for Kobv but he got wobbled once or twice as I remember. Lot worse opponents out there...

Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
There were plenty of rumours about this one a few weeks ago so wouldn't surprise me. Disappointing fight for Kovalev if it happens.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Kovalev vs Pascal II
Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Great!

Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
There's just no point in it. It proves nothing. Kova wins again and we're left in the same position we were over 18 months ago.

When is Beterbiev going to get a shot at a title?
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Injured at present isn't he?dr_devious wrote:When is Beterbiev going to get a shot at a title?
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Seems a very pointless excercise, Pascal was no match for Kovalev.
Someone else should have been given the opportunity rather than fans having to sit through another formality.

Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
In fairness though who else is there really out there available for a fight in January? Yes its a mismatch but it keeps Kova busy and in the limelight.THEBUTCH wrote:Seems a very pointless excercise, Pascal was no match for Kovalev.

Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
I believe there was a rematch clause and credible reports were that they each earned at least $2m from the first bout, so I can see why they're doing it again, but I find it a bit disappointing. The first bout was solid but I only gave Pascal one round and he looked poor in getting a highly debatable win last time out.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Had they given the win to a Cuban guy, as it should have been because he fornicating won, we could have had a very good fight here. Kova vs Yunieski Gonzalez is an intriguing match up. Probably it still can happen if Gonzalez beats Shabranskyy on Dec 19. Kova v Pascal is at best premature.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Pascal with Freddy Roach now, which makes it more interesting.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Kovalev is not an iron man - apart from his fists obviously.
He looks really out of sorts when opponents put it on him, but unfortunately his power and accuracy soon put's them back in their box.
Perhaps Pascal looks at his approach from the first fight, and decides to get in range and throw bombs this time before he gasses at the 7th round onwards like he usually does.
It's still reasonably interesting, but it will likely go the same way again. But yes, it is indeed fairly pointless I suppose.

Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Apart from Ward or Stevenson who else would be more interesting. Pascal had his moments, wobbled Kovalev and at least he'll come to fight.
However, Kovalev Stevenson not happening epitomises everything that's wrong with matchmaking in boxing. A huge reason why promotions like UFC are overtaking the noble art.

Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
Gonna be the same exact fight we saw the first time I imagine. Give or take a round.

That's news to me. I mean, I knew he was with Roach now...johnswan1 wrote:Pascal with Freddy Roach now, which makes it more interesting.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
A pointless mismatch in all honesty, Pascal did nothing in the first fight to even suggest he has a chance in a rematch, a like Kovalev but he shouldn't be taking this fight, waste of time if I'm honest.
Re: Kovalev V Pascal 2
No interest the Kov Stevenson fight is what he sport needs. All the rubbish about Haymon saving boxing ( current scene mainly) he is clearly preventing the fight. Then again Main Events did pull out of the purse bid something to do with value of currency .....
No interest in this fight shame it's not Beterbiev that would be tasty genuine beef between him and Kovalev it seems.
