Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
I think Murray can outbox Abraham. I think he's the better boxer by a hair, and Abraham always gets off to a slow start so Murray should be able to put the first 3 or 4 rounds in the bag because of the way Abraham is so passive with his high guard in the early going, I think Murray could still manage to win enough rounds over the long haul of the bout when Abraham picks up the pace to get a decision.

Id love to see murray win a word title but this fight has robbery all over it imo, a defiantly think murray can outbox Abraham but as we all know sometimes that is enough to get a decision in Germany....cough cough sven ottke cough cough.

Geale and many others have won in Germany.adambb22 wrote:Id love to see murray win a word title but this fight has robbery all over it imo, a defiantly think murray can outbox Abraham but as we all know sometimes that is enough to get a decision in Germany....cough cough sven ottke cough cough.
It actually more difficult for a non-British boxer to win a decision in the UK.
And then there's those notorious British stoppages.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
I would expect Abraham to be the favorite. I'm just glad that Abraham is fighting someone other than Stiglitz for once.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
I think Murray is going to dominate Abraham, I expect him to win 9-10 rounds, and if he is lucky they give him a SD or MD.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
It won't be entertaining but the result should be interesting, or maybe not. This has an ugly decision written all over it. Biggest question is how much Arthur has left or if Murray is able to resurrect his career at the higher weight, since 168 is there for the taking.

itself as a boxing nation and did everything
to get and keep titles. now they are more in
the mode of establishing themselves as a
place where things are quite fair, trying to
attract good fights with good people from
abroad. so i think things have been changing
for the better.
yet there is always that thing home town
advantage ... all over the world.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
I think Abraham in his prime beats Murray without too much trouble, but this version of Abraham is tough to predict. I enjoyed his last 2 performances vs Stieglitz, but if he performs like he did against Paul Smith in those 2 bouts i'll take Murray to win by a round or 2.... which is what i'm going for. Murray by Split Decision.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
As the poll shows, it is close to impossible to predict. We have seen different versions of both Murray and Abraham, so the outcome depends on which versions show up.

Abraham by clear decision, or maybe even late stoppage. There's a level between Abraham and guys like Ward and Froch of course, but I think there's a level between AA and Murray. Style matchup also just doesn't favour Murray in my view.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
Glad to see you're still around Bobby, you were always one of the good ones. Though I disagree with you on this particular fight. I think Murray will win, but an Abraham victory wouldn't shock me. Very competitive matchup here. I like it.Bobbyptsd wrote:Abraham by clear decision, or maybe even late stoppage. Abraham by KO
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
Abraham pts, i'm not convinced his move up in weight is a good thing, his power will be even less and winning by pts in germany is pretty impossible.

Yep that's pretty much it. Murray will lose on pts, away from home and in a non- controversial manner :(
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
Really tough one to call. I have gone with Murray but I am not sure if it is a heart over head scenario. Abraham is so good at stealing rounds, so Murray needs to box for every second of each round.

Abraham has impressed me lately. Proven world championship fighter.
If he's motivated and doesn't take his usual handful of rounds of he can beat Murray quite wide on the scorecards.
Murray can be quite one-dimensional at times and doesn't have the power to worry Abraham.

Arthur Abraham wins by SD over Martin Murray (115-112, 112-115, 116-111).
I scored it 114-113 Abraham, the point deduction being the difference.

Haha, i knew Murray can't do shit.
Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
so basically an even fight.. what was the deduction for?

Close fight but AA did just enough.

cool, thank youcrusader wrote:Holding.SFW wrote:so basically an even fight.. what was the deduction for?

Re: Martin Murray vs. Arthur Abraham
I had it 7-4-1 Abraham, plus the point deduction which makes it a four point gap in my view. Murray was tough and had his moments, but I thought it was clear.
The sky crew are atrocious, and I'm being kind. Watt had the fight for Abraham, but said he hoped the judges saw it the other way (so, bad decisons are only bad for Germans?) and Froch said Abraham has this way of tricking judges into giving him rounds, where he blocks shots then lands his own. Genius insight to that dirty fighter Abraham who wins by being more efficient on defense and offense, cheater.
There's this British bias that's so blatant, they don't even realize they have it. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not shoicked that they favour the British fighter, fine. But they have this way of implying that Germany is crooked because in Germany, you have to, you know, win the fight to get the decision, and then not realize the sheer stupidity of some of their statements.
