Maybe I was wrong. Loefler in his comments didn't complain about Gennady not getting the money:

Re: Cotto stripped of WBC title
The problem is this all but screws lil g out of the big money fight he wanted.
Guess we will really find out if it is all about the money.
Canelo wins, he is going to insist that Golovkin honor his word of a year ago and come down or no fight.
Cotto wins, same thing and no belt around his waist muddling the issue...and he can still say "lineal".
Gennady couldn't even break 125K buys with Lemieux, not an elite but a guy with a following...what will the numbers look like with Lee?
No way his next fight is on PPV.

GOOD! With out reading the rest of replys, I can say that this is a good thing to expose chicken Cotto. I mean the guy does inteiviews like he is so brave, but a chickenshit at heart, just like Canelo. Both are pretty much insignificant in my eyes.

the 800k wouldn't just come from cotto, as GGG stepped aside to allow theseikorolev wrote: Now it sounds that they didn't pay to Golovkin. two fight each other and both had to agree their first defense would be against GGG.
GGG got lemieux's ibf and $2mil to take it in the meantime to sweaten the deal.
the titles actually charge both fighters and the promoters to sanction the event
so the WBC is getting paid by both golden boy and canelo. cotto was never going
to defend againt GGG anyway so GGG will either fight canelo or someone else
for the wbc, as i don't remember the wbc upgrading anyone from the silver or
interim to their world belt without fighting for it. i know the wba plays a shell
game with their belts and the wbo upgrades people from interim without
fighting. not sure about the ibf. i have a hard time believing cotto signed
an agreement to pay GGG and then not have to pay, no matter what happens
with the WBC. the reason this fight is happening is because cotto had
the wbc and GGG was willing to step aside, so i can't imagine cotto
not directly owing GGG. roc nation has already been involved in shady
stuff with andrade and other fighters, so this may not be the end of it.
Re: Cotto stripped of WBC title
This is such a diva play by the most overrated boxer in the history of boxing, Miguel Cotto. Granted, he's probably going to lose this fight because he's lost every big fight he's ever been in albeit the one fight he won against a 40 year old with no knees. But what if he wins? He successfully avoids any collision with GGG and any connection between the two fighters dissolves. Canelo can still win the belt so he can still say that the fight is for the Lineal Middleweight Championship.
This had absolutely NOTHING to do with Cotto not wanting to pay the sanctioning fee of 300k. This is a calculated decision by Cotto to distance himself from anything associated with GGG. Now, he has a built in excuse as to why he can't fight GGG. And if Cotto wins, most people will still recognize him as the lineal champion for a little while longer.
I'll be backing the red gorilla in this one as it's the only way we'll ever see GGG in a big time PPV event. That's if Canelo doesn't find a way out which he's been alluding to in some questionable soundbites. Is there a MAN left in boxing? MY god. All these games to AVOID fighting the best fighter. What a joke.

Canelo,Cotto and GGG are at that point now. They are wasting money paying sanctioning fees.
On another note.Neither Cotto or Canelo would fight GGG if they win anyway.Too much risk
not enough reward.
Agreed. The crocked alphabets need the top fighters. Not the other way around.
Belts are still meaningless. I believe Larry Holmes never won the WBA crap, uh I mean strap. No I really meant crap.

WBC clearly stated multiple times that if a winner doesn't defend against Golovkin NEXT, then Golovkin will be promoted to the full champion.sucracristo wrote:GGG will either fight canelo or someone else

time to come everyone will know, that this is a duck. that is part of his legacy, especially the
middleweight-catchweight chapter. cotto has payday options at 154, and that is why he can
financially afford to duck, but lets not pretend that any real middleweight is going to be able
to earn title level paydays in the division without going through golovkin from 2016 on out.

Not only he is a coward, but also a scammer!
If he isn't, why are you?
Besides, Cotto isn't scamming anyone.
The step aside fee of $800,000 was in order for Cotto to remain 160 lb champ while he fought Canelo
instead of Golovkin, his mandatory.
Well, Cotto aint the champ no more, Gennady aint his mandatory, and there is no need to pay him to
step aside for anything.
Wave bye-bye to the 800K, and good luck suing for it.
So lets recap.
Lil g shot shot himself in the foot by not even garnering 125K PPV buys...
yet he was throwing tickets like he is an A-side to guys who are actually are.
And, he sold himself a little too well to the WBC, who bought enough of those wolf tickets
to think stripping the guy actually holding the title was a good idea.
Meanwhile, the only guy that can win the title Saturday is already on record as saying
lil g does it his way or hits the highway.
Hope that money he got from the Lemieux fight is enough.
Bet lil g is rethinking 155 now...

Just hope that the fight is any good. Don't care about the money the fighters are making or whatever ABC-belt scam is going on.
Meaningless topic overall. But well, let him keep his money for putting his ass on the line, same goes for Canelo. Wish them good luck and hope they both come out allright after the fight. The WBC can't stop it so why cares about them?

Re: Cotto stripped of WBC title
You could have written something smarter for your first post. "Ass on the line" ??? Fighting mandatory Golovkin would be putting his ass on the line. Buying his way out of it and refusing to pay at the last moment is not putting his ass on the line.Paci wrote:Just hope that the fight is any good.
