How long was Tyson down against Douglas?
How long was Tyson down against Douglas?
I glanced at the knockout on YT today and it looked to me that Tyson was up slightly before the referee reached 10.
On the other hand, it looked to me like the referee was a bit slow on the count.
Opinions?

Yancey, as I alluded to in my post the other day Tysons count was long...longer than ten but Douglas' was even longer.. From memory it was like 13-14 secs...yancey wrote:I glanced at the knockout on YT today and it looked to me that Tyson was up slightly before the referee reached 10.

I wish these referees would learn how to conduct a proper count.
Wonder what would have happened if Tyson had about 20 more seconds in round 8. He might well have finished Douglas.

It was on most courageous get ups after knockdown...yancey wrote:evrenb wrote:Yancey, as I alluded to in my post the other day Tysons count was long...longer than ten but Douglas' was even longer.. Big difference between the two knockdowns.
Tyson was on queer street.
Douglas was watching the referee following his count.
Douglas was fully aware of his surroundings.
Tyson didn't

I have always thought that it looked like Tyson may have just beaten the count. It was really close. He was though, as tiny acres pointed out, in big trouble.
Douglas did not look like he was hurt that badly.

As you say even if he beat the count he wasn't even half way through the round, only a matter of time before he would've gone down again.Ambling Alp II wrote:I have always thought that it looked like Tyson may have just beaten the count. I agree. Tyson looked badly hurt while rising from the floor. He was hurt much more then in his KO losses against Lewis and Williams late in his career.tiny_acres wrote:Big difference between the two knockdowns.
