The Heavyweight divison has not looked better since 15 years
ortiz, jushua and wilder are top heavyweights, who would give any heavyweight ever trouble.
6'4-6'7 in height and between 226-250 pounds, these guys have combined around 72 wins with 68 kos and 0 losses, these guys mean business.
on top there are solid guys like stiverne, povetkin, pulev and parker. tell me a year where there were such explosive strong builds heavyweights in the last 15 years.
only problem now, as usual in boxing, the big fights have to be made!!!
wilder vs jushua
povetkin vs ortiz
parker vs pulev
etc....

Re: The Heavyweight divison has not looked better since 15 years
Seriously it's all the same
Ortiz Joshua Parker have fought no one
An undefeated record means nothing except good match making
A prime Sam Peter sparks all these guys out
A lot of undefeated fighters once defeAted go backwards - wach pianeta chagaev Johnson solis charr adamek (at hw) I expect same with pulev
Few rarely comeback as strong eg wlad povetkin thompson
Ortiz and one of Parker /Joshua when loses will go backwards . As will breezeale , Washington , gjerjaj, Lucas Browne , glazkov
The road back is always tough as u can't pad ur undefeated record and need to take more risks
Povetkin proved it beating 4 good opponents since wlad
I think personally the future is between Joshua , Charles Martin or Parker

Re: The Heavyweight divison has not looked better since 15 years
I think there is truth in the OP.
The division is looking a little better.
A good thing for Wlad if he can manage to meet and beat one of these young future HOFers.
I think maybe Wilder and Helenius, and definitely Joshua.
Hope he finds time to fight all three of them and a properly refereed rematch with Povetkin again.

Sorry, but Sam Peter was always slower than old ketchup.
I think the future is Joshua, the Furys, Parker, and possibly Wilder IF he can take a good enough shot.

Wilder, Joshua and Parker could dominate the division for the next ten years.
By picks Joshus though. He looks a immovable force.

erken teper could dominate for years, will he, probably notPredatorHayds wrote:Wilder, Joshua and Parker could dominate the division for the next ten years.

parker and joshua are still prospects as david price was, as wlad once was, as seth mitchell was
alot of ppl labelled price as an heir to wladimir as one point b4 old TT sorted that out.
its all good beating the skeltons, sprotts and gaverns of this world recycled opponents
the 3 u've mention
ALL THREE cant dominate at the same time, as if face each other one-two would lose
no ones gonna domiante for years
yes joshua and parker may become champions (may not) but dominate is winning and not ducking mandatorys for 3-4 years

to me wilder looks the best. the height, the punching power. most important, he can take a punch. stiverne is a strong heavyweight and wilder took his shots and totaly beat him up.
the combination of power and chin makes wilder very dangerous. also he has underrated boxing skills, his jab, his 1+2 is world class.
i have one big problem with josh. he seem a big robotic and slow to me, in footwork. i think wilder moves more fluid, is faster in foot and handspeed and tops him on power, wilder would ko the slower josh late.
parker is tough, solid well rounded heavyweight. but ortiz, that man can bang, the most underrated heavyweight right now, but he is arguably #1. big time power, solid defence, great technician for a heavyweight and judging from his neck, he can take a punch.
Re: The Heavyweight divison has not looked better since 15 years
anybody who say, the just another prospect doesnt know boxing.
comparing wilder to jennings, like wilder is just another prospect like jennings was
its not about being young and undefeated, but its about who you bring to the table. jennings does bring height and power to the table like josh or wilder do.
oh god, so many non experts on this forum, why...

Re: The Heavyweight divison has not looked better since 15 years
I love the excitement here about the heavyweight division. I must admit that i've had zero interest in the division since Wlad hijacked it and moved it Germany and fought mostly in obscurity. He's the worst thing that's ever happened to that cherished championship. Not saying that he doesn't deserve his place in history as a great champion but he's really did a job on the mystique that was the Heavyweight Champion of the World. That used to be as important as the Baseball MVP, Super Bowl MVP, Fastest man in the world, Batting Title..etc.
Ah who needs me complaining, couldn't help myself there. This OP and comments about the division makes me optimistic about the talent pool. I haven't had a chance to catch Joshua fight, only what i could find on youtube, but everyone seems to think he's the real deal. I still think Wilder's overrated but I have to admit that i've loved his last few fights and he's slowly reeling me in as a fan. I knew his skills were overrated but that man's got a lot of heart and i'll side with heart any day of the week. Love the heavyweight talk! Keep em coming!

Hopefully we get one dominant champion as opposed to multiple ones like the mid 80's.

Indeed, And. despite what a previous poster suggested he doesn't fight in obscurity but in a place called Germany, don't really understand why it matters where any fights take place, in foremans first career he didn't have a single title fight in USA and it didn't destroy boxing.ttornado wrote:We have one dominant HW champion.PredatorHayds wrote:Hopefully we get one dominant champion as opposed to multiple ones like the mid 80's.

either HOF turns into a total joke or one
doesn't enter by merely being top ten at
one point in time.
i understand the urge to pump up the
current state of the division, but i think
it is simply ridiculous to talk someone
with not a single world level fight into
HOF material.

Be a lot of fighters vying for that number one spot once he's gone.
