If You Could Make One Fight

Post by HomicideHenry »

What would it be.... Per Division....

Heavyweights? For me, it would be Dempsey/Louis or Dempsey/Marciano

I'll add my other division matches later

Hard to pick just one, so here are my three fantasy fights:
1) Sonny Liston vs George Chuvalo
2) Luther McCarty vs Jack Johnson
3) Harry Greb vs Roberto Duran

HW - Evander Holyfield -v- Joe Frazier.

CW - David Haye -v- Dwight Qawi.

LHW - Bob Foster -v- Michael Spinks.

MW - Carlos Monzon -v- Marvin Hagler.

LMW - Thomas Hearns -v- Mike McCallum.

WW - SRL -v- SRR.

LW - Roberto Duran -v- Pernell Whitaker.

Need to think about some of the smaller guys because it gets more intruiging.

This is a mouthwatering post. I would suggest you add MAB v Sal Sanchez at FW, I would happily give my right arm to see these fights on a single card, I might even consider giving up my life if I could see this show first, the hell with 72 virgins.

CW - David Haye -v- Dwight Qawi. Qawi sd15, rallies last 3-2 rounds to take close dec.

LHW - Bob Foster -v- Michael Spinks. Foster, close, Spinks rallies late but it's not enough

MW - Carlos Monzon -v- Marvin Hagler. I hate myself for this, but Monzon, close, Hagler shows Carlos a little bit too much respect. Would batter him in the rematch though.

LMW - Thomas Hearns -v- Mike McCallum. DRAW McCallum walks through hellfire early, Hearns Holds on late.

WW - SRL -v- SRR. I'm not going there. Robinson

LW - Roberto Duran -v- Pernell Whitaker. Duran, controversial, close. Boxrec bans multiple posters as the community is split 50/50 in heated debates that descend into new depths of vile venom

Had to be done.

Haye would be dead after a grazed punch from Louis. Totally different levels.

nah. i don't buy into the total different
level theme. that seems history biased.
louis didn't ko everyone put in front of
him within a round and it was not only
HOF material he faced.

haye is fast and has no real disadvantage
regarding size. i guess louis would test
things out and try to reach his man, but
that would not succeed early. balanced
fight for five, six rounds, then louis'
superior skills would turn it in his favour
leading to a solid decision or late stoppage.

haye is in my view no HOFer, but ain't a
bum either.

FrozenMixedVegtables wrote:The clumsy attacks of Haye would play right into the Hands of the far more accurate Louis. Resulting in a early stoppage.
never felt he was clumsy in anything. he
had some unorthodox overall style, maybe
reminding of roy jones, with no jab and not
much overall movement. but he did punch
to hurt when he jumped into his man.

he was too small for the current average
size in the division, but for smaller heavies
of all times he would indeed be a challenge.
