Haskins is world champ?
Haskins is world champ?
Is this right that he's been given the title as Randy got nowhere near the weight?
Re: Haskins is world chap?
When I say is this right I mean can anyone else confirm it?
Re: Haskins is world chap?
Not sure what "world chap" is... I think one of the mods edited it from "world champ" in order to make me look bad...
Re: Haskins is world chap?
Yes Lee is the champ now, Caballero was 5-1/2 lbs over the limit and after some discussions it appears Haskins camp rightly declined a catchweight contest and he was upgraded to full champion as he held the Interim.

Re: Haskins is world chap?
Thankfully this was for the IBF and not the WBA or even WBC,because christ knows what shennanigans they 2 bodies would try and pull over Haskins
Re: Haskins is world chap?
Should get the rematch with McDonnell made if they can, would love to see that.

Re: Haskins is world chap?
Dunno, but funniest bit of this whole thing is when Caballero steps on the scale, ODLH (who's looking over his shoulder) sees the bar settle & goes "Oh shit!", then starts furiously mugging & shrugging to someone off-camera, rolls his eyes, gives a big sigh, then starts trying to send telepathic messages to the MC to get him to read out the wrong weight.Bleak wrote:Who was the idiot at the weigh in mouthing off

You can just see him thinking "Say 118, say 118, say 118" like he's trying to remember the number for directory enquiries.
Classic.
Re: Haskins is world chap?
McDonnell against Haskins on the Quigg/Frampton undercard would be a good fit.
Re: Haskins is world chap?
This is crazy as if Murray and Crolla both win we will have more world champion's then America!! Can anyone remember or know a time when this last happened?
Re: Haskins is world chap?
Do we not have more already?digzee wrote:This is crazy as if Murray and Crolla both win we will have more world champion's then America!! Can anyone remember or know a time when this last happened?
Haskins, Frampton, Quigg, Selby, Flanagan, Brook, Smith, DeGale.
Quigg is up for debate but I suppose his regular belt could have been seen as the same as an interim title with the other organisations, then when Rigo was stripped he was upgraded.
Yanks have Charlo, Crawford, Bradley, Broner, Wilder and Russell.
Unless I've missed someone out, we have 8 and they have 6. Britain currently has more world champions than any other country.
Re: Haskins is world chap?
Your missing Andy Lee from your list and I thought Thurman was the WBA champ, also was LSC born in America? I didn't include the Irish but if we have them then yeah we dominate the world!expe wrote:Do we not have more already?digzee wrote:This is crazy as if Murray and Crolla both win we will have more world champion's then America!! Edit: I am wrong about LSC, I thought he was like ODLH but yeah he was born in Mexico but lives in the US now

Re: Haskins is world chap?
Pushed it enough counting Frampton, can't really count Lee but even with Thurman we're still 1 in front, Santa Cruz was born in Mexico.digzee wrote:Your missing Andy Lee from your list and I thought Thurman was the WBA champ, also was LSC born in America? Re: Haskins is world champ?
It was the turning point then Caballero fornicating up and Haskins completing world domination
I wish I knew the last time we had more champions then anyone else it must be so far back its incredible. Boxing here is at an incredible level and we have plenty still coming up challenging for titles soon.
Re: Haskins is world champ?
So he misses fighting on a huge show, the purse and the to exposure?

Frampton is British. He's from Lisburn, Northern Ireland part of the UK.
Lee isn't. He is from Eire.

Yeah, it's crap for him.G0mez wrote:So he misses fighting on a huge show, the purse and the to exposure?

But at least as champion he will be in a stronger negotiating position and can get the bigger purse.
Re: Haskins is world champ?
Does he still get paid? He made the weight
Re: Haskins is world champ?

Congratulations to Haskins, albeit a weird way to finally win one.

Re: Haskins is world champ?
So if he loses his next fight he will join Ken Norton as (I think) the only world champion never to have won a world championship fight?
Re: Haskins is world champ?
Frampton is from Belfast not Lisburn. Shore Road (Tigers Bay) area. Lee was born here but grew up in Ireland.CharlesListon wrote:Frampton is British. He's from Lisburn, Northern Ireland part of the UK.

Ok, but that's not a full 'world' title (whatever that means these days)Coco wrote:But he son an interim beltreggaereggae wrote:So if he loses his next fight he will join Ken Norton as (I think) the only world champion never to have won a world championship fight?
