SMH At Last Nite

Post by koolkc107 »

We shoulda seen this coming.

They was telling us the deal early on in the week, but some of us (myself included) ignored it.

There was no way Miguel Cotto was going to win a decision last night.

This, is spite of the fact that he boxed beautifully and answered all the naysayers predicting him getting KOed.

They couldn't force Miguel to pay their ridiculous 1.1 million extortion fee, so they mugged him of his belt before the fight
then ripped him off on the scorecards while he was in it.

I would say that boxing should be ashamed of itself, but we already know it isn't and never will be.

Here's something else.

Folks mostly agree last night was a "good" to "great" fight.

Other than Cotto's excellent display of self-defense (against a guy who looked every bit the part of light heavyweight) I disagee.

Here are the punch stats:

Alvarez threw only 484 punches but landed 155, 32 percent. And he was 118 of 298 in power shots, a healthy
40 percent. Cotto connected on 129 of 629 punches overall, 21 percent, and 75 of 255 power shots, 29 percent.

http://ringtv.craveonline.com/news/4048 ... guel-cotto

Well, last May in what almost everyone universally says was a "bad" fight we had these punchstats:

Mayweather connected on 148 punches of 435 thrown (34%) and 81 of 168 powershots (48%)
Pacquiao landed 81 punches of 429 thrown (19%) and 63 of 236 powershots (27%)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing ... rdict.html

Not to point out the obvious but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see Floyd performed as well or better in his fight last May
as both men last night.

Hell, his stats are much better than Cotto's who I thought won the fight and who everyone with eyes agrees boxed masterfully.
And, they are quite comparable to Canelo's in many ways.

Floyd landed only 7 shots less on an opponent some would consider much more dangerous than Cotto, and though he landed
37 less powershots (about 3 less a round) he landed power punches at a much much higher percentage.

Bottomline, I didnt see a huge difference in what happened last May and what happened last night.
Granted, last night was a lot more competitive and much closer fight.
But the guys who won both fights offered up about the same amount of action,
and Mayweather was actually lightyears more dominant while in against a much more dangerous guy.

Just putting things into perspective...

Brut pretends to make a post about Cotto v Canelo..... but really is just another post defending Floyd's honour.

To say MayPac was anything like Cotto Canelo is delusional.

There should be a helpline for you Brut "Has an all encompassing crush for someone you can't have seriously affected your mental health?? Free call 0800...."

$200

That is all you have to put up to resolve your fears about me supposedly being someone else.

But, you are too petrified at the thought that you have been wrong all this time.

'Cause if I am not this other poster, that proves it is all about you and your insecurities.

And you aint about to deal with those ever.

As for my post, you call it defending Floyd's honor.

I call it pointing out hypocrisy.

And bias.

Here's a clue Pretty Ricky.

If you cannot offer back any facts in rebuttal to what a poster is saying, you be losing.

If the only thing you can do is poor attempts at humor, you be pathetic.

You have a problem with the post, let's hear YOUR take.

Oh yeah, I forgot, you dont have any.

Get a life...

STANDING OFFER TO ANYONE WHO THINKS I AM ANYONE ELSE EXCEPT THIS SCREENNAME

We let the Admins verify in addition to any proof that is rational and sufficient.

The person sure of me using multiple accounts puts $200 into a paypal of the Admin.

Then folks have a week to submit "proof".

If the accuser is wrong, the $200 is donated to Boxrec.

If the accuser is right (if I have multiple accounts here) I pay $200 PER ACCOUNT to Boxrec.

Put up or shut up...

But, then again, expecting folks juvenile enough to make such an assumption to be responsible enough
to back up what they say is probably unrealistic. Just need you to know this is out there...

I have no idea what this thread is about.

Seeing Brut argue with a guy I have blocked about who he is is funny though. It's like watching Brut try to convince himself he's not Brut.

Brut.

Ok I'll stop now......

It is no where near as hilarious as watching dudes STFU when directly called out tho.

Where is your $200, Bob?

statistically 9 out of 10 people enjoy gang rape. Statistic's don't always tell the full story.

Also last nights fight was nowhere near great, it wasn't even the best fight of the night.

I actually agree on this one. I tear into May Pac more than anyone, but it wasn't that bad just not near what I wanted it to be.

Uhh, in my bank account, where it belongs?

Look man, I don't care either way, and to be perfectly honest, I think this is more light hearted fun than anything else, because it's so silly.

If you're not Brut (as I've pointed out before) why would you care? If someone wants to decide they think I'm another poster, why would I get worked up about it? That's would just show people that it's probably true. If I got this worked up about it? Well that's just a dead giveaway.

Don't misunderstand me.

It is amusing.

But what would be MORE amusing is if one of these chuckleheads actually went thru with this.

For some it is lighthearted. Others seem a little more affected.

Either way, what folks don't get is that every time they go to the brut card, it is almost always a
tacit admission that they have no rebuttal to the position put forth.

So, no I have no real problem with it.

But, I got a feeling one of these fools will go for it one time.

It is as good a "tell" as any.

Dude, even if that stat was true (and I highly doubt it) you probably might have wanted to keep that to yourself.

Women DO occasionally view this forum, and of course we have a poster named Pretty Ricky
who clearly was forced to do some traumatic things at some point in his life.

I agree that the main event was not even the best fight on the card. I was just pointing out the bias and double standard.

And I didn't even get into how folks blame Floyd for it being boring when it was Manny responsible for any perceived
lack of action. Mayweather did what he always does. It was Pac who had the grossly different output.

Not all "power shots" are the same....and there still were 50 more of them on Saturday according to your stats. about a 35% increase.

I didn't agree with the scoring at all in this one, either. But I think that they got the winner correct so I'm ok with it.

It was a very tough fight to score. It was the old how many jabs equal a power shot question. Cotto didn't have any snap on his punches and never hit Cotto with anything substantial. But he did hammer the jab all night and it was getting in on Canelo, that's for sure.

But Canelo's power shots were dictating the fight and doing a lot of damage. For most of the early and middle rounds, Canelo was landing at a high percentage as well. He didn't start missing a lot until the last few rounds so you can't really give any of the earlier rounds to Cotto for his defense.

I was rooting for Cotto but can clearly admit that Canelo won the fight. I had it 8-4 in rounds for Canelo.

It wasn't 1.1 million dollars that Cotto had to pay. It was $300,000.
