GGG vs Canelo
Re: GGG vs Canelo
IMO if Canelo can stay off the ropes, and there will be some close distance exchanges in centre of ring, it would be very hard night for GGG

In total Roman has beaten 3 men who later went on to hold unified titles (so it's not like he's not beating guys at the end of their careers either)

It aint about whether one of lil g's fanboys think there is a rush.Pureist wrote:Actually there is a rush, he needs to make his mind up in 15 days because that's when the WBC will be asking the question, the WBC have stated on more than 1 occasion that they aren't bypassing GGG again and being a mandatory defense canelo has no call for 155
It isn't even about whether the WBC or lil g himself thinks there is a rush.
It IS about whether Canelo and/or GBP thinks there is a rush.
And they don't.
They are good if a Golovkin fight takes place 2 years from now.
I kind of agree.
I don't think Canelo has a chance against lil g if they fight 6 or 7 months from now at the full middleweight limit.
IMO, the fairest thing here IS a catchweight of 155 to 157.
As I have said in other threads, a full 160 fight would be kind of asking too much of Canelo, who has never fought a true middleweight.
Folks say idiot stuff like "well, he rehydrates to lightheavy so he is really OK to fight a middleweight".
That's like saying Brandon Rios should also fight Golovkin since he is 165 on fight night too.
The other part of this is being used to fighting guys that size, and clearly Canelo has ZERO experience in that respect.
That is why even should they fight soon, if there is no catchweight I don't see it as doing much as far as lil g's legacy.
It is really the same thing Golovkin has been doing a lot of throughout his career- having
jr middleweights take him on in their first or second fight at the higher weight.
Re: GGG vs Canelo
How much garbage can u soout in 1 post Koolibrut? Kirkland is bigger than Golovkin.
Re: GGG vs Canelo
GGG said he doesn't care about canelo, he wants the belt, so either canelo mans up and fights him or he gets stripped of the belt, a pure duck, Mexicans will not like that at all, his fan base will be eroded, this is why you all complain that GGG hasn't fought anyone elite, because their not willing to fight himkoolkc107 wrote:It aint about whether one of lil g's fanboys think there is a rush.Pureist wrote:Actually there is a rush, he needs to make his mind up in 15 days because that's when the WBC will be asking the question, the WBC have stated on more than 1 occasion that they aren't bypassing GGG again and being a mandatory defense canelo has no call for 155

It isnt a duck and it wont be a duck if Canelo wants it at 155 and Golovkin refuses.
Two reasons:
1) Golovkin has maintained for years he will go up or down for a big fight
2) Less than a year ago his promoter mentioned Canelo specifically as a guy he would go down in weight for.
If Canelo dictates 155, he'd only be asking Golovkin to keep his word.
And yeah, I realize lil g and Loeffler are singing a different tune now...it is what hypocrites do.
But if they want money, they will act right.

See, that is why you are a fanboy...and just because you like a man in your mouth doesn't mean we all do.
"Act right" means keep your word.
It means do what you said you would do.
“There wouldn’t be any issues for us to come down to fight Canelo. There would still be a title on the line for Gennady because he would be fighting under 160, so he would be able to defend the titles at 156 or whatever you have the weight be. But Gennady would be willing to come down in weight to fight Canelo. I wouldn’t say it would be at 154 but certainly, given that Canelo fought his last fight at 155, then you could say that Gennady would certainly be willing to come down in weight to make the Canelo fight."

That's Loeffler last November.
Nothing has changed except he thinks he can use the WBC to leverage a fight with Canelo on his own terms.
He's wrong.
And it is going to cost lil g his big fight.
If he thinks he can shame Canelo into a fight, he's wrong.
JCC jr STILL has all his fans after everything we've seen.
No doubt Canelo will keep his too, if the fight doesn't happen the way he has dictated-
155, a weight Loeffler already has agreed to.
Re: GGG vs Canelo
Kool,
Weren't you critical in the past of Pacquiao with all of his catchweight handicaps? Instead of wanting GGG to cut to Canelo's weight he wants, encourage him to man up and fight at 160, which he still has to cut weight to get to. To me it is disrespectful to the sport for any fighter to demand a weight handicap, especially for a championship fight.
Nothing to be afraid of, since GGG has not fought anyone good yet, right? Canelo needs to man up and fight for the unification at 160, or borrow a pair of Oscar's fishnets to wear.

And all things being normal, I'd be just as critical of Canelo.
155 IS NOT a weightclass and Canelo should make up his mind.
But, Canelo has been consistent. It has been what he has fought at since Mayweather.
Couple that with A) lil g saying he can fight in several weight classes AND B) specifically naming Canelo
as someone he'd be OK with going down in weight for and C) saying he'd go even lower in weight against another fighter
and you know what you get?
Canelo holding the high ground here is what you get.
If the fight is not made at 155, folks will call Canelo the duck...but the only guy who will be going back on his word
and NOT doing what he usually does is lil g.
I agree with you, Husker, in a perfect world yeah both of you fight at 160.
But we have a case here where Canelo is just as entitled to make his demands as Golovkin is-
even without it being a question of A-side.
Re: GGG vs Canelo
Doesn't matter what weight he wants. If he wants to be the middleweight champion he has to fight at the middleweight limit, including allowing his opponents to fight up to 160 not trying to rig it to suit him. If he doesn't want to fight at middle then release the title for someone who does.

GingerHead owns a 160 belt. It should be defended at the 160 limit. If GingerHead refuses to do that, he should be stripped.
The fact that he was fighting an overblown welter at a 155 catch weight for a 160 belt, weighing in at well over 170 on fight night is a joke.
Your agenda is obvious and tired. Go chant yourself to sleep in your mommy's basement fixated on that FMJ poster taped to the ceiling.

Re: GGG vs Canelo
Agreed, you can't walk around calling yourself a MW Champ and refuse to fight people at 160, that's plain wrong.
Re: GGG vs Canelo
Pure and simple, it's a MANDATORY, canelo only has the belt because GGG stepped aside to let canelo v cotto fight be made, if canelo wants to keep the belt he has to fight, if he drops it he's a duck, it couldn't be more obvious kooli, never seen anyone move the goal posts to suit their adgenda more than you, if it was a voluntary defense then GGG would have to drop down but it's MANDATORY so why should he, canelo is just trying to be the next big diva
Re: GGG vs Canelo
It seems canelo is already being hammered by fans on Instagram about fighting GGG at the 160 limit, how many fans will get dirty with him if he refuses to fight?
Re: GGG vs Canelo
Ironically I'm sure we'd see a more active and better fight out of Canelo if he didn't have to dehydrate all the way down to 155. I'm sure it would take more out of Canelo to make the weight than GGG based on their build.
GGG should agree to fight at 155 for a non-title fight at a time that doesn't interfere with him fighting for the vacated middleweight belt against a, you know... middleweight.
Canelo is a very good boxer he doesn't need advantages in every fight to get the wins, he will get more support by trying to be the anti Chavez Jr and will lose support if he continues to turn into to him.

Re: GGG vs Canelo
I've always like Saul Alvarez. But this isn't a good fight for him to take. Of course if he DID take the fight, he'd make enough money to pack it in and never have to fight again. But as for winning, his chances just aren't that good. Golovkin has the advantage of size, power AND can match his skill and movement. That's a hellish combination to have to overcome. Saul of course has youth over Gannady, but until GGG starts showing signs of slowing down its pretty much a moot issue.

Yes and in 2011 Canelo was a baby at only 20 and GGG was 28 and in his physical prime.ikorolev wrote:Lamar Russ claims that Canelo took a beating from GGG in a 2011 camp:

Golvkin wins but I don;t see Canelo getting stopped unless he really outs it all out there trying for victory.
