Can't help feeling Willis might be biting off a little more than he can chew here with Long after just 4 pro fights.

it shows you the state of boxing now, when a fight between a novice, 3--4,s 1-6 and very limited ability
and a journeyman more losses than wins can exite some people,Long could make this his swan dive, then all the experts can hail another future world champion, all the best :OhYes:

Looks like Willis will be engaged in more wrestling than boxing if Long follows suite from his last display, reported by Aus-Boxing.com:
The second main event for the evening saw local Bendigo boy and former Australian heavyweight champion, 44-year-old Justin Whitehead go into battle over six rounds against 7’1 giant American, Julius Long.

The bout was indeed a scrappy affair, given both are huge men.

A game but outwrestled Whitehead went down in a unanimous decision after being dropped and seeing the canvas on four different occasions during the bout, two of those that were ruled knockdowns were dubious at best.

Long seemed to be too big and strong for the lion hearted and game Whitehead, wrestling and throwing Whitehead around the ring and banging away at his body and head in the clinches.

To the disappointment of a few in the crowd, many thought enough wasn’t done by the referee to intervene in these wild clinches as Long seemingly allowed to get away with holding and illegal blows.

The American also threw Whitehead to the canvas. As difficult as it is to separate two men of that size, attempts should at least be made to do so.

At the conclusion of the bout all three ringside judges were unanimous on the cards all ruling 60-50 on each of their cards.
Long also made "Big Daddy" Browne look pretty predestrian with his awkardness before he ran out of puff. Lets hope that father, Kali gives the lad a few pointers to avoid the clinches and rough-house tactics that Long will surely introduce.

Cheers Benny. Good write-up
Is that Lisa Lewis the stripper?
I see Willis winning this easily. Apparently he's sparred with most of the old dogs (Lucas, Alex, Bowie and of course his old man) and said he felt he was "a level above them"

A young, large, athletic, powerful part timer.
I'll happily give you the "I told you so" after the fight. Julius is a chef and "part timer" himself. No disrespect to Julius, but he's lost more fights than he's won for a reason

I did pick Wlad to beat Fury though.......

Update about this is
It might not happen afterall
simply because Willis Meehan is trying to still get a contract with NRL, Super League or Super Rugby
if he can get a contract then the bout is off
also there is a rumour that there is still some court issues with Willis from his incident earlier this year

The promoter giving him till 18th to sign a contract otherwise they will be looking elsewhere

Already they tried to get sonny bill williams to fight Julius Long but the promoter giving till January otherwise they will be looking at other options

From what I hear Sonny Bill is fully focused on the sevens for the olympics.
Willis seems a bit "all over the place" to the uneducated eye looking in. He has great physical attributes, but, c'mon man. There is money to be had in the heavy division at the moment, but you have to work as hard as JP, AJ, Povetkin, Wilder, Fury, Old Klit, Jennings etc. etc.
Those guys all train insanely hard.
Is Willis ready to train 6 days a week, 3x a day like Parker, and be careful what he puts into his body? Not many can do it.

Now even Danny Green wants a nibble at Sonny Bill. Looks like a bit too much Christmas punch has gone down the hatch!

Any update on what Willis Meehan is up to?

With Julius Long now fighting Peter Graham does that mean Willis is out of the equation? Or would a Long loss see him fight Willis afterwards?
