Besides the Berto and Thurman fights haven't seen much on Zaveck.

He went the distance with Thurman so you know he's tough but does he have the skills to compete with Lara?

It was a pretty impressive effort that resulted in 3rd round TKO victory. The fight was held in South Africa and earned Zaveck the IBF belt (which he successfully defended three times).

Just seen some hl's looked good in that one but that was some time ago.

I think Lara is one of the best pure boxers today when he's on like in the Trout fight he's hard to beat.

But Lara has also shown lapses in concentration like in the Angulo fight.

Lara can afford lapses against Zaveck because the latter doesn't have Angulo's power.

I think this will be a boring, one-sided fight that isn't worth watching for most boxing fans.

Yeah its the GGG syndrome few are willing to face Lara. They are both avoided for different reasons one is a dangerous puncher the other is an elusive hard to hit boxing master.

Canelo squeaked by him (won't argue with those that say Lara won)and wants nothing else to do with the cuban.

Lara's ppl are saying he's moving up to MW after this one (assuming there's no surprises)to chase GGG.

Can't imagine why they wouldn't. He doesn't have much to trouble GGG with. GGG brings power and volume that would give Lara a very hard night, I believe.

Ive been back n forth with folks here about Lara/GGG.

Don't wanna get into again but i think Lara style is all bad for GGG.

Lara would be too gun-shy to get off enough, and if he thinks Angulo hits hard I can only imagine how he'd feel if GGG nailed him.

Both heavyweights on the card pretty untested... Nofire having evolved in USA fought and won vs slightly better opposition... his best opponent being Ty Cobb...

Consegura fought poor opposition and did well... but stepped up in his last two and loss by stoppage.

Both have a shot in this in that Consegura can almost be considered a step up for Nofire... And since NoFire is not too tested, cuban Consegura might be able to outbox him.




Although Zaveck is a handfull to fight, high work rate, good cumulative and grinding power... But i struggle to see how a talent like Lara will be trouble but an awkward but relatively limited fighter like Zaveck. Lara can just box from distance behind the jab and cruise his way to an easy dominating UD imo...

Lets see how effective Zaveck is at cutting the ring and closing the distance... If he can't, he'll be neutralised

Guy quit after a couple of good shots from Lara that shook him to his boots, then Lara rightly sucker punched him whilst he was not defending himself and bizarreness kicked in him saying he pulled his shoulder ...... didn't look like it unless he popped it rushing in to try and smother Lara seconds before ........ big dissapointment

Lara came out looking for a stoppage that left was landing at will.

Zaveck just didn't have nothing for him.

What a GREAT FIGHT that was! Finally the PBC gets it right and we get a fight of the year candidate! Zaveck showed so much heart in there last night. Especially when he took that light Lara punch to the face and then immediately quit and hid behind the ref. That was awesome.

EPSN claimed that the rain was the reason that 27 people saw the fight live but I don't buy it. lol What a sham this PBC is.

No way Canelo gives Lara a rematch. I personally don't care to see it again. Maybe I would if they replace the Mexican judge for a Cuban on this time, but it will probably be 2 Mexican judges this time.

i mean, he has to change a big his attitude. lara was easily winning the fight, he outboxed him and canelo could land nothing clean on him besides some body punches. but you also have to entertain the crowd and lara could easily have made some more effort, some more looping hooks, some more combos, some more left up n down, just to make it more fun to watch. hell, lara is so presice, he surely would have even knocked down or hurt canelo, had lara tried just a bit more.

but yes, ggg-lara, 2 elite boxers, the best middleweight against the best 154 boxer, that make sense, hope they make the fight. one thing is for sure, the winner of that fight would not be a star boxer anymore, but a superstar.

Many people think Lara is big problem for GGG because Canelo have some problems with his style. It was because Canelo is not so good in cutting off the ring. But cutting off the ring is one of Golovkin strongest weapons, he will absolutely demolish Lara. Laras punches has no effect on Alvarez and probably will have no effect against GGG. IMO slick boxer is far less dangerous for GGG than boxer - puncher like Canelo.

I wouldn't call Lara more dangerous as far as punches to hurt GGG, but his elusive style will make him a more difficult opponent for GGG. GGG is one of the best at cutting off the ring, and will probably catch Lara. Canelo was only able to hit Lara with about 5-10 head shots over 12 rounds, which is pretty poor for an elite boxer. Add to that Lara is well known enough to make it a good show.

It was Lara's fault to not make it more of an exciting fight for the fans I guess, but its hard to change your style and sometimes dangerous and foolish. Not many can beat Canelo in a toe to toe battle, except maybe GGG. Anyway, I'm not holding my breath for Canelo vs GGG. I would settle for Andrade vs either Canelo or Lara. Lara beat Andrade 8 or 9 yrs ago in the amateurs and he thinks that makes him better. I am not sure he is.
