Dude, you just dont get it. You dont get it at all. Canelo struggles against speed and movement. What were the 2 strengths of Martinez in his prime? Speed. And movement. Lots of both. And punch output, against a guy like Canelo who fights in judicious spurts. Why did Canelo have such trouble with Floyd and Lara?

It is forgotten that Williams only fought Sergio because people like Cotto was afraid of him. He did call out Cotto immediately after beating Margarito.

cotto was even on the cards the first time v margarito before his face fell apart and
he had to retire, with margarito getting caught with plaster paris wraps and on roids.
margarito knocked out sergio and gave williams all he could handle. williams also
had a harder time with lara than canelo did, and lara wasn't as developed a pro
as when he fought canelo. complain all you want about sergio's draw with cintron
but canelo knocked out cintron in 5 not long after that. you people talking about
these huge differences in class between guys who have faced common opponents
are overly nostalgic. you'll be claiming martinez built the pyramids, soon.
it's not reality.

Canelo is gonna win this fight. Easily. I mean ridiculously easily. You don't stand in front of Canelo and have success. Name one guy who has?? Cotto doesn't know how to fight backing up. He's gonna walk right into the fire. Against a bigger, younger, stronger bull of a man. Cotto doesn't have the athleticism, movement or range to trouble Canelo the way Floyd, Lara, Trout did.

If you took the best Canelo to this point and put him in there against a prime Sergio at 160, the results would be very similar to the Chavez Jr fight but without the last round drama. Canelo would not be able to touch Sergio and the punch stat numbers in that fight would be startling.

But in all fairness, comparing one of the greatest Middleweights to a 25 year old boxer yet to hit his prime is kind of silly. Canelo is impressing me more with every fight and we aren't even close to seeing his full potential. Let's compare it again in 10 years and see what we have for apples to apples.
