"Anthony Taylor set to fight former two time World Champion
Tauranga's Anthony 'T'n'T' Taylor will make his first WBU World title defence, against two time Interim WBO world champion Michael Katsidis in April 2016 at The Trust Arena.
The 28-year-old boxer won the vacant WBU World Super Lightweight title last August against Australian and recently retired boxer Darren Askew. After being knocked down several times and receiving broken ribs, Taylor came back and won the bout by Technical Knockout in the twelfth round.
Taylors opponent is a 35-year-old Australian boxer Michael Katsidis. Katsidis is a well credentialed boxer who has many achievements in his career from representing Australia in the 2000 Summer Olympics to winning multiple World titles. Katsidis won his first major world title in 2007 against someone that'sGraham Earl for the interim WBO World lightweight title. Katsidis won his second major world title in 2009 against Vicente Escobedo for the same title. This will be the second attempted for Katsidis to capture the WBU Super lightweight Title. Katsidis won the first attempted last year against former rival Graham Earl, however later vacated the title due to not defending the title.
Royal Rampage promoter Lisa Lewis said “I am excited and proud as Promoter of Royal Rampage, that I have been given the opportunity to put on this world title fight and bring Michael Katsidis and his camp from Australia to New Zealand as a Pro Boxer - giving fans this show, and giving the kid from Tauranga: Anthony TNT Taylor such an experience and opportunity to get in the ring and fight with had opponents like Juan Manuel Marquez and represent New Zealand like this. I believe this fight will make history.”
Taylor’s team originally planned to try get a fight against IBO Asia Pacific Champion and Hamilton native Cairo George. Unfortunately George's team refused to negotiated. Royal Rampage promotions tried to spark interest in late october saying “Would love to make this happen & promote at Royal Rampage Promotions. Cairo The Waikato Warrior George vs. Anthony TNT Taylor (Tauranga).”. George retaliated with this to say on Facebook “Some people just never learn lol stop. Name dropping to hype your dum event already and go back to doing what everyone knows you're good at hehe…. Have to laugh when I see people using my name to promote their event. People wanna mention and talk about me in their adverts at least let a brother know lol.”
The events card will also have the first ever World title bout on New Zealand Soil from one of the major four boxing sanctioning bodies making it New Zealand History. The event card will also feature nine pro bouts and three corporate bouts, including seven world champion boxers.
Tickets General Admission tickets go on sale midday 17th of November.

Katsidis chases familiar world title
"ANOTHER Toowoomba boxer will try to take the WBU world super lightweight title from Kiwi Anthony Taylor.
Two-time interim WBO world champion Michael Katsidis (31-7-0) will fight Taylor (11-1-1) for the WBU super lightweight title in Auckland on April 16 in what will be the first bout for the Toowoomba boxer in a year.
It will be Taylor's first title defence since he recorded a controversial win over Smithy's TGW Gym fighter Darren Askew in August.
The Askew camp felt it was robbed of the title after the now retired adopted Toowoomba boxer knocked Taylor down five times during the bout and broke his opponent's ribs before the referee awarded Taylor a TKO victory in the final seconds of the 12th round in his home town.
Katsidis now had the chance to bring the belt back to Toowoomba after the 35-year-old beat Graham Earl in July last year to secure the vacant WBU title at Rumours International."

I'll be happy for Katsidis' sake when he finally announces his retirement.

What that song the Beatle's sang........................... YESTERDAY ''All my trouble's seemed so far away''
that's when it should have been[retirement]......Yesterday anyway good luck to Katsidis and Taylor
Re: Anthony Taylor Defending WBU title
If Katsidis takes this fight seriously, like I think he will... Taylor is going to cop a flogging.

Re: Anthony Taylor Defending WBU title
A "claytons" world champion versus a debutant, now thats a healthy match-up!The first out of three professional bout main events presented WBU World Champion and New Zealand Champion, Tauranga’s Anthony Taylor against Debutant Matthew Tuakolo. With Taylor’s heavy hitting and experience, he simply outboxed his opponent till he knocked out Tuakolo in the second round. Taylor was originally scheduled to fight former two time World Champion Michael Katsidis, however due to contract reasons Taylor's team pulled out.

Re: Anthony Taylor Defending WBU title
There was never ANY conflict of interest. Both camps had agreed terms. This 'conflict of interest' was a figment of someones* imagination.
* When I say someone I wont mention names however all I will say is both camps Katsidis and Taylor's had agreed terms and were happy to fight. So lets put to bed the 'conflict of interest' Bullshit.

Still betting it about money.
Re: Anthony Taylor Defending WBU title
Like I said both camps agreed to the fight purses. So no issues Re money there. Perhaps the promoter realised they bit off more than they could chew and needed to find a way out ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Re: Anthony Taylor Defending WBU title
You must go onto the WBU web site and look at their ratings. Never heard of half of them.

WBC WBA IBF & WBO 1ST Echelons. IBO right now has become the No.1 irritant. 860-515-7680 in Connecticut.

Re: Anthony Taylor Defending WBU title
It's leadership. Key into my UWBCAFO-I work to echelon the Sport. I accept ("first echelon") WBC WBA IBF & WBO. The problems with boxing is the multiplying. But....WE MUST DEAL WITH THAT [What if their WAS NO GROUP AT ALL HA HA!]. So, we simple look to the history. WBC & WBA not long ago fledged alone. Then came the IBF. They were accepted pretty quickly. Then next the WBO sprung up. No one accepted them. Finally they became "stronger" at under HVY-wts. Then, their HVY-wt caught up.campfire wrote:Redback Rasta wrote:Taylor is fighting a debutante by the name of Matthew Tuakolo in Albany NZ on Saturday.

I accept NOTHING after these 1ST & major- four!
