WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
I'll go ahead and admit it. I thought that Vargas/Miura was a lock for 2015 Fight of the Year with no other fight even close to as entertaining as that dandy. But again, I was wrong.
Those lucky people who remembered that the PBC had a fight scheduled on ESPN last night along with the 32 people that witnessed the fight live got treated to an instant classic. Erislandy Lara & Jan Zaveck's meeting in the ring didn't even last 3 rounds but it will forever go down as 7 Minutes of Hell. Boxing genius, Alfred Haymon, once again puts on a marvelous card on free TV to wow even the most novice of boxing fans. The tremendous action led to an amazing ending when Lara landed a light punch to Zaveck's face and Zaveck, almost 40 years old, screamed "NOT IN THE FACE!" to Lara and then said that he quits and no fair. The capacity crowd of 37 (including camera crew) lightly clapped and the rest was history.
The PBC just keeps churning out boxing entertainment and we all owe it to the genius, Al Haymon. He's been so good to the competitive state of boxing in 2015. Can't wait for 2016.

My favourite part was when Zaveck quit embarrassingly. In fact, he quit in such a shameful manner, Lara decided to assault him after he gave the no mas. Top quality entertainment.
Re: WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
They can't all be gems and this is not unique to the PBC series.
And that same HBO card you are lauding had an OK main even (nothing for the ages) AND
A Rigo tilt that was worse than 90% of what I've seen on any PBC card- and folks PAID for that...

Exactly. do people really think boxing would be better off without PBC? As if you didn't get mismatches with HBO and SHO.koolkc107 wrote:They can't all be gems and this is not unique to the PBC series.

PBC is awesome. Yes it hypes up star fighters just like any other network does, but it also provides a platform that many up and coming boxers never had before. Theres enough competitive and interesting matchups on PBC that wash out the mismatches that you normally get with any boxing network.
Re: WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
Plus its attracting overseas fighters that ordinarily wouldn't of been on your radar

It was like Zaveck thought the round had ended. But he couldn't have, because it was less than a minute when he touched gloves and walked away.Ricky_ wrote:My favourite part was when Zaveck quit embarrassingly. The easiest thing for one to do is simply turn the channel or not watch in the first place, crying about viewing a fight for free just so you can hate on the Promoter (maybe because he's black) is just plain idiocy.

Badhusker & brut make quite the double act.
Re: WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
Not the issue, Einstein. The issue is that Haymon has 66% of the best fighters in the world under his control and this is how he's matching all of them up. I guess you're ok with him hijacking the sport and keeping us from seeing great fights. So you'd rather watch a mismatch for free than pay a few bucks for a good one? Not surprised.Badhusker wrote:You are complaining about something free? Watching is optional.caldo2025 wrote:I'll go ahead and admit it. Brut, you've been back like three weeks. Please don't start being racist this early on. Give this account a chance to mature a little at least. Your other accounts here are VERY stale.Undefeated49-0 wrote:This +1!!Badhusker wrote:You are complaining about something free? Watching is optional.

Re: WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
There must be a reason why his stable of fighters never seem to say anything negative about him. I'm sure the lawsuits against him by Top Rank and Golden Boy hasn't helped some of the big fights from happening. I do think the exposure the fighters get is a good thing, but do agree the fans want more competitive fights.
TR and GB can do a better job also, as we have seen some horrible mismatches there too. Most of the undercard fights we see today are bad. I think a big part of their hate is jealousy, but some of it is understandable too. PBC is still a relatively new thing, so I will wait and see if it improves or not before I complain too much. If I don't like the fight, I just change the channel.

It's like being overpaid at your job. You wouldn't say anything about your boss neither. You can be a million dollar fighter against mismatches. Or you can go the Berto route, lose, lose, and lose, and still get a multimillion dollar payday against the cash cow.

Yeah I noticed that, playing the race card is pathetic and a dead give away, might as well hold his hands up and admit he's Brut now.punchoutsb wrote:Brut, you've been back like three weeks. I am not saying the PBC is perfect. Sometimes we get turkeys like the last one.
But there are several FOTY candidates that took place on the PBC.
And, we ARE getting introduced to new blood in often very pleasant fights.
And, as Husker points out, IT'S FRIGGIN' FREE!!!!!!!!!!
You don't even need a cable subscription for some of them!
WTF are you idiots complaining about?
So what he has a lot of talent signed?
I didn't hear too many of the same complainers moan when Haymon was in bed with GBP!
But what clinches it for me is the fighters themselves.
How can a guy who fighters to a man praise him on and off camera be bad for boxing?
The guy is good for boxers so he is automatically good for boxing.
Those who say otherwise might be worrying about the wrong things.
Big fights have a way of usually getting made. The PBC won't change that.

Re: WHAT A FIGHT!!! PBC! PBC! PBC! PBC!
You have to be a complete moron to excuse PBC and the utter garbage it serves up on the basis that it's free.
It's like a door to door salesman has signed a contract with a local farmer for the majority of his beef. The rest of it goes to a local butcher who sells the best steak in town but no longer has as much of it to sell since the slimey salesman came along. The door to door salesman grinds up the beef and mixes it with all kinds of crap, cornflour, left over pork, bits of bones, mushed up organs, then proceeds to go door to door handing out his sausage product, free of charge, to all the butchers regular customers. Hey, it's free, stop complaining... said the village idiots.... until the Butcher goes bust and suddenly..... the entire town is paying twice the price for a horrible sausage concoction than they were paying for the Butchers beautifully cut steak.

First of all, if you want to make your analogy accurate, you must concede that the local
butcher isn't making the best steak in town- he is making the same head cheese he was making
before the door to door guy showed up. The door to door guy knows this because before he went
into business for himself, he helped make the head cheese and realized the complaints of the villagers
had merit. So he went to the farmer and decided to change how things were done.
Now the local butcher MUST up his game because the door to door guy is giving out for free
the same crapola the local butcher was charging top dollar for. As a matter of fact, door to door
guy is occasionally tossing in the free steak that was heretofore only available for $70 a pop.
Lastly, be sure to include in your analogy the village idiot who can't see the difference and makes
idiot posts in boxing forums pining back to the days of all head cheese, all the time.
