It's not based on what you or I think. It would be nice if it was but it's not.
I don't get your point. Of course it's not based on what you or I think, but it is based on what someone (The Ring's panel) thinks. I simply disagree with them.

Mr Juji,

Maybe we have crossed wires somewhere. Your original post said "Good fight although rating Zlaticanin #2 based on that one win over Burns is somewhat dubious.". So my point is that he's being rated on the Burns win AND the win over Redkach (who beat a couple of highly rated - by the Alphabets - fighters himself).

But are we talking about a different set of ratings? I don't think Zlaticanin is the 2nd best Lightweight out there but can see how one of the Alphabets would rate him so highly after those two wins.

He's ranked #2 by The Ring, not any alphabet body. People were curious as to how this fight could be for The Ring's championship belt, since I believe that The Ring requires a vacant title to be filled by a fight between #1 and #2, or #1 and #3, and I think most people would not rate Zlaticanin that highly.

At least going by the fighters I see in BoxRec's top 10 at 135, I don't have an issue with him being #2. He's not a clear cut #2 and I could see him being multiple spots lower, but to me it's not unreasonable to have him there.

What raises more of an issue for me, at least with respect to the Golden Boy bias people have hinted at, is Zlaticanin going from #6 to #2 without a fight, though there could be fair cause for that.

Burns is not at the level he once was (when dejan beat him) but Linares ended up involved in a see saw battle with the never has been world level Kevin Mitchell (remember rickster stopped him and is hardly a banger!).

Zlaticanin looks solid and Jorge isn't the most dependable in the durability department. Therefore I fancy Zlaticanin to win by KO/TKO in the later rounds

Ok got it. Didn't realise it was the Ring ranking you were talking about.
