Terry Marsh

Post by tagjohnson »

Back in 1987, Terry Marsh retired as the undefeated jr. welterweight with a record of 26-0-1. Anyone know why? He was a young, undefeated champion with plenty of years ahead of him.

The epilpsy was a great shame and he obviously then went a bit AWOL as well.....but Terry was decent skills-wise and exceptionally hard working and in line for some bigger, headline fights. He rightly figured in a thread on good fighters "who just got the job done" a few months back.

Can remember the Joe Manley 'fight-in-the-tent' very well with Manley really not liking the pace Terry fought at one little bit. Marsh was the sort of guy whose fitness was made for the old 15-round format.

I also watched him having to come back and put it right on the Jap fighter Kameda after getting a seriously nasty cut early on that was in danger of not lasting the fight.

Definitely an interesting guy in and out of the ring; ex Royal Marine, Fireman, interested in politics and put in the frame for shooting Fwank!
