Nofire KOs Consuegra
Nofire KOs Consuegra
I was quite surprised at this, Nofire was making a big step up and people on other forums were certain he was going to get badly exposed. Anyone know much about John Wesley Nofire? Is he a genuine prospect?
Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
I was trying to watch the fight online on ESPN3 and on TV on reg ESPN, but to no avail. The rain didn't help. All I know is his record and the pic they have of him on boxrec. I'm trying to find out more too.

Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
It turns out Nofire had fire all along! I'm a little surprised by this result. I've seen him fight twice and he looked good but I thought he was over his head in this one.
Also, he is the whitest Indian I have ever seen...good marketing for his region though!!

You guys must think more highly of Consuegra than I do.

I don't think highly of him at all...I just didn't think much about Nofire either and was surprised he got the win.crusader wrote:You guys must think more highly of Consuegra than I do.
Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
I posted Hls of the fight in the Lara vs Zaveck thread... Nothing that telling about the fight really. Nofire looks OK, nothing GREAT... He likes to grind his opponents and that's what he did. He put some decent combos together. Consuegra quit after a round ended.
Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
I don't think anyone thinks highly of Consuegra at this point, some of us were just surprised that Nofire passed his grade school test; that's all.
Thank you for the Nofire-Consuegra clip in the Lara thread.

Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
Okay, but I don't see much reason for surprise--Consuegra had beaten no one just like Nofire, he was quickly stopped when he fought decent opposition, and he showed no heart in his bout immediately before getting halted by Nofire. Is there a particular fight where he looked to show significantly more ability than Nofire would be able to deal with?
Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
What made Consuegra quit is Nofire ended the last minute of the last round grinding Consuegra in the ropes.
Re: Nofire KOs Consuegra
Consegura likes to quit. He is like a cuban Tor Hamer.

Toy Hammer as I call him. Last I heard he was talking about becoming a pilot. Would you fly on a plane he piloted? I wouldn't.
There's a little turbulence, so I'm (we're) going to quit.

"Yeah...I'm never flying Tor Hammer Airlines again."

Hammer is the only guy I've ever seen quit simply for losing 10-9 rounds. And I've been watching boxing a long long time.
