SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/spence- ... rld-314966
As top welterweight prospect Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (18-0, 15KO) gears up for his hometown fight this Saturday at The Bomb Factory in Dallas against the tough and gritty Alejandro Barrera (28-2, 18KO), he can’t help but look to the future and for a potential title fight. “I’ll fight anyone in the top 10. The ranking just came out. I’m ranked in the top ten in all 3 sanctioning bodies, the IBF, WBA and WBC. I’ll fight anybody in the top 10, maybe anybody in the top 15, it doesn’t matter.”
Spence has not been shy about fighting current WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman.
“It’s nothing between me and Keith Thurman, it’s just Keith Thurman said he will fight anybody, nobody wants to fight him, everybody’s ducking him. You know, like he’s a big bad wolf, I’ll come out of the bushes, I’ll fight you. It is what it is. He said 10 million or something like that, people don’t get 10 million to fight Floyd Mayweather, and so I don’t know.”
Spence’s trainer, Derrick James, has no preference on potential fights.
“I’m the guy who stays out of it in the sense that I want to fight who he wants to fight. I’m not the guy who picks and chooses. Whoever he wants to fight, I want to fight. I’m not an agitator. I’m just in it to help him, help the other guys get better. I’m not a call outer, that’s not what I do.”
Spence would love a shot at Porter and Bradley if that was possible.
“I’ll fight anyone of those guys. Bradley I don’t think is going to happen, because you know, politics. Anyone of those guys, Porter, top 10, top 12, top 15, that wants to fight and get me ranked and in line for a title shot, that’s who I will fight.”
GGG and Canelo may square off at Cowboy Stadium next year in a mega fight. Spence wouldn’t mind a fight like that down the road.
“I don’t really think about it too much unless someone might mention it to me, but that’s definitely something that I would love to do, that’s a dream come true to fight at Cowboy Stadium, in front of that many fans, pay per view, fighting a mega star, something that’s probably going to happy down the line, but if it happens I would be grateful. I would love to do that.”
I think he has the talent to fight and possibly beat anyone within his range but is he asking for too much barking up the tree of GGG???

Don't know who would WANT to fight Spence.
HBO has always done the best job of star building.
Spence should have more momentum behind him.
Spence would destroy Canelo.

This kid is the real deal.
If there is any real heir to Money and Pac, he is it.

I agree that he should have more momentum behind him but it appears that many fighters he wants to fight are avoiding him, I saw a vid or something (maybe an article) of him calling out Boo Boo but it all went down as banter back and forth of which nothing materialized from it.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Don't know who would WANT to fight Spence.

I know he is the real deal, he has great skills but I'm not sure if he is the heir just yet, he has to somehow get the top fighters to face him and win before we can go on to anoint him as the next coming.koolkc107 wrote:This kid is the real deal.

Me too but the question is; Is Thurman using the 10 million dollar price tag as an excuse not to face Spence because he knows he'd lose and he knows that Spence isn't the type of fighter yet who is able to render him the money he wants??
Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
Thurman hasn't put himself in a position to make 10 Mil against anybody.

Agreed. I did say "If".Undefeated49-0 wrote:I know he is the real deal, he has great skills but I'm not sure if he is the heir just yet, he has to somehow get the top fighters to face him and win before we can go on to anoint him as the next coming.koolkc107 wrote:This kid is the real deal.

I agree with this, he should be facing the man who claims that everyone is ducking him at WW (Khan) and then maybe he'd start commanding the type of money he thinks he's worthy of.The Revival wrote:Thurman hasn't put himself in a position to make 10 Mil against anybody.
You can't beat a few nobodies or hasbeens and think you command 10 mil just because you have a nice nickname, lol.

Someone remind me who Spence has beat?
Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
The kid Spence is fighting now is no joke.
Got 18 KOs in 28 fights and has never been stopped...and oh yeah, he has Nacho Berestain in his corner

The Real Deal?. Spence hasn't fought anyone who has tested him yet.
Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
Barrera had a 6 inch reach advantage and had never been down in a fight before today, nevermind stopped.
Spence got him out in less than 5.
Kid might need some more work defensively, but not a whole lot.

Definitely Spence is a good prospect. I think that's pretty obvious to any Boxing Fan that's seen him fight. Thurman vs. Spence would be a good matchup.

Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
I don't anyone here is debating whether or not Spence is worthy to face any of the challengers/Champs he has mentioned, the only thing any of us who have seen him fight are really saying is that "he is skilled".Counter-puncher wrote:Someone remind me who Spence has beat?
I think GGG may be well out of his realm but I think fighters like Thurman and Andradade are well within it at this moment.
Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
I was at the fight today. After his match, Spence said something (it was loud so could not hear him) but I heard him mention Porter's name. After the fight I talked with Spence and asked him who he was "calioing out" he smiled and said "everybody, man" . Most likely his first big fight will be with Brook in an IBF mandatory. In like Spence a lot, have watched him for years but he;he's really not even fought a B fighter yet...so I think talking Spence Thurman, GGG, or Caneo is ludicrous. Of course he wants to fight any of them (all boxers do). The kid needs to grow still and he really needs a solid B fight..or anyone who can take hi 10 rounds. He's a top prospect right now..that is it.
With that said, there was another dude on today's card you guys might want to keep an eye on: Erickson Lubin. I've only seen him fight twice but he's got some crazy power.

Spence looks very promising but I'd like to see him step up now.

Canelo, Crawford and Spence will rule boxing.

Haven't you gone after GGG for his opposition level and mentioned it as part of your argument why Canelo would beat him? Yet you have no problem saying that someone will rule the sport when their best opponent is Chris van Heerden?kidbazooka1 wrote:Spence is the real deal.

You're using those Glen Tapia double standards again.

Spence is believed to be one of boxings future top fighters key word "future ".
No one is singing Spence's praises in every effing post like you cats do with GGG.
I simply stated my opinion Spence is one of the future elite.
You guys bust nuts every time you hear GGG's name.
Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
I simply like to point out double standards, just as when you were going after people like Frampton and criticizing his opposition yet praising Tapia for beating Daniel Dawson. Since you frequently post about GGG and he's mentioned in the thread title it's natural that I'd give him as an example, but there are others I could mention.
Spence looks impressive but so far has beaten no one of note. If you're going to knock other fighters for their opposition it seems odd to me that you'd claim Spence is going to rule the sport when his best opponent was no better than a fringe-contender; at least keep it consistent bro.

There's a big difference between the way ppl talk about GGG and Spence right now.crusader wrote:I simply like to point out double standards, just as when you were going after people like Frampton and criticizing his opposition yet praising Tapia for beating Daniel Dawson. People here act as if GGG has already beaten Canelo, Ward, Kovalev all in one night, its really getting out of hand.
No one is talking like that about Spence. Simply saying that imo he wi be one if the best NOT saying he is at the moment.
Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
8 years ago, Golovkin stopped Khomitsky who is about the same level as Spence's best opponents. I can only imagine what people would be saying if somebody called him a real deal who will rule boxing.
