David Haye will be haunted by the Wladimir fight until he passes on & quite rightly too.

All that mouth for years beforehand; gets his big opportunity & then bitches out & blames his toe.

I was all prepared to accept that he got in there & realised he was out of his depth & then tried to survive; fair enough, but to blame his toe? :o

That will surely be on hs gravestone! :DDD

I thought that the great Thomas Hearns was going to knocked out the great Marvin Hagler. I was dead wrong. Hagler was Marvelous that night. He earned every letter of that name/nickname.

I thought Fernando Vargas was going to destroy Oscar De LaHoya. I didn't like Oscar, and I wanted Vargas to do the job. Dead wrong again.

Those are the two fights that come to my mind. Also, Buster Douglas vs Evander Holyfield. What he showed me in the Tyson fight I thought that the same would've happened to The Real Deal. I am glad I didn't bet on that fight.

I couldn't believe when Livingstone Bramble lost to Edwin "Chapo" Rosario by knockout. I was very irritating. I was furious. Chapo knocked him out so easily.

When the great Salvador Sanchez thrashed and outbombed the great Wilfredo Gomez I was in a state of shock. I thought Gomez was going to win, but, Salvador gave him a whooping. It was one of the most dominating performances of my lifetime

Probably the worst one for me was thinking that Arreola was going to dominant and knock out Bermane Stiverne. I was as sure of it as you can be about a prediction, and I wound up being wrong.

I think I also picked Tito knock out Winky Wright in 5 or something like that.

ihave retired from the tyson/tillis post, but i guess i can make a comment here....on a different discussion.

i just recalled i can now get you tube! so i checked out that fight. and see that after all the years since i saw the it live, i find that my analysis nailed it. just google tyson vs tillis and it's there.

i missed a few rounds of some corbett fights by laughing so hard at corbett's butt in those thongs he wore instead of trunks.

That outfit Corbett wore in the fight was indeed ridiculous.

Why did they wear that kind of stuff back then?

Back to topic....

Hagler over Leonard.
Foreman over Ali.
Liston over Ali I.

I also thought Jose Torres would most likely beat Dick Tiger in their rematch.

It would be Wlad's 19th successful defense.

I can pick winners for the rest of my life, but Povetkin is the one I'll be remembered for. I even convinced a few posters on here to bet on him as well.

Mine for last night was way off the mark (WK by TKO in 9)...although I did predict Fury would lose a point(s) for infringements.

Also picked Jeff Lacy over Calzaghe, Tyson over Lewis and many more

I don't put money on fights and I rarely make bold predictions, but the one that sticks out most to me is confidently picking Danny Green to KO Markus Beyer in their rematch.

I also said with 100% certainty that Wilder-Stiverne wouldn't go the distance.

1. Beyer would beat Kessler in their 2006 fight.
I had an inflated opinion of Beyer, don't get me wrong I still think that he was a very good fighter, but I thought that (despite the obvious height and reach advantage) Mikael would have been too naive and cumbersome to outpoint the wily old fox that Beyer was.
Upon watching the fight, I realised how great a fighter Kessler was...

- Although I have said it before, but in my defence - there was a poll in the current scene leading up to the fight and the BoxRec majority also thought that Beyer would have beaten him. So I wasn't alone in my misjudgement.

Image
2. Pacquaio would conclusively TKO Juanma Marquez in 2012
It's obvious what happened... But once again, the vast majority fancied a heavy Pacquaio victory over his old rival. And that knockout was cold!

Image
3. Martinez to outpoint Cotto this year
We all looked at Sergio as the number one Middleweight in the world, and it was a big step-up for Miguel, moving up yet another weight and facing a dominant World Champion... But alas, Sergio was shot - Cotto was back to his best.
I also picked Martinez over Cotto but I think a qualifier there is it wasn't publicly known how shot Sergio's body (particulary his knees) were going into that fight. It was clear he was a little brittle but he came into that fight practically crippled.

Golota to ko lewis is a standout lol

I had Wlad to ko fury this weekend too and haye to ko wlad although i guess a lot of people did. Mmm, bad ones let me think - Groves to ko froch second time is one. I thought canelo would beat floyd. Ive got as many predictions wrong as anyone but nothing really bad, apart from the golota lewis one which I lost quite a bit on :-(

Good Lord, what a lousy call.

iirc, McGovern didn't even carry his home state of South Dakota.

The only state he carried was Massachusetts.

Sad thing is, the better man won........that tells you just how bad the candidates were that year.

I was young and growing up in Arizona when Goldwater ran against Johnson...and backed the local favorite....However in that case, I can't say that the better man won. Goldwater was a wise man who would have grown into the job quite well IMHO.

Ashamed to say it. Arthur gatti to batter floyd mayweather. Tbf at the time i hadnt seen much of mayweather but had caught gattis previous few fights prior to it not knowing about the ward days etc. Sure it was around the time buddy mcgirt was moving him away from the slugger type style into a more boxing puncher style. Think i seen him fight leija and a few others. Actually looked quality but obviously against much lower opposition. By far my worst pick.

I let interviews with Teddy Atlas & Eddie Futch convince me that Spinks would beat Tyson. Ouch.
