Here's the thing... Wlad was there for the taking but Fury showed little inclination to get a decisive win.

People are talking about this as a great victory, but this was two big lumps afraid of letting their hands go for 12 rounds of inaction. Haye said after two rounds that Wlad was shot and he was right. Fury lambasted Haye's performance against Wlad, but here was Fury against a declined version of that same fighter, trying to fiddle his way to victory on the backfoot. Sure, he got the win. But he left a lot to chance.

I'm surprised at the lack of negative comments regarding this fight. It was a dismal advert for heavyweight boxing.
Horrible, horrible post.

I really am revolted by the negativity about Fury's brilliant performance.

I think people are just happy with the win and overlooking how bad the fight was. Fury was on the backfoot all night and at the final bell was still the underdog to win with the bookies. To me that tells me something about him. He was leaving a fair bit to chance, especially after the point off. I think he will maintain this backfoot style and be in boring fights from now on. Can you imagine how much of a stinker a fight with Haye would be? I give him credit for winning, but to be honest he was very lucky to get that decision in Germany.

No, I enjoyed the fight.

The people I watched it with seemed to enjoy it as well.

I was (foolishly) surprised by the negativity.

I'm guessing the fact that it was Fury made it more enjoyable? Do you normally enjoy Wlad fights?

No, but there was actual drama in this fight.

Was Wladimir's reign of terror really about to end? Would Fury get the decision? Etc.

Don't people enjoy storylines? I don't get most people. It was a great fight.

I enjoyed the occasion, the drama, Fury, will he, won't he etc etc. But take all that out and it was a sh1te fight. Still loved watching it, but it was frustrating as hell.

I thought Fury could have put him away in the last two rounds. Too risky though. He'd stop him next time. It's nice to see Fury living up to the potential. As a fellow Fury fan, it's been a frustrating few years. People laughed at me when I said he was going to be a world champion, before the first Chisora fight.

Yeah, but you don't take the drama out of it. Why would you take the drama out of it?

The story of a fight matters more than the amount of leather traded.

This was an historic fight and a lot of people are saying they thought it was worse than Wladimir vs Pianeta or something.

What's that Taylor Swift? I'm not a 'hater', I'm just a boxing fan who likes to occasionally express his opinion. I'm not going to 'shut-up' because people don't like it.

The truth is I've got nothing against Fury and I've grown to like him (barring a few eyebrow-raising comments). I think he brings charisma and showmanship to boxing. I just wasn't impressed by his performance.

It wasn't a great fight but Fury was great. His tactics were spot-on and he made Wlad look ordinary (which says a lot in itself). I thought Tyson could give Wlad problems but I didn't think he'd beat him in Germany, although he didn't stop Wlad the judges had no option but to give him the win. I was well impressed by Fury and I'm even more of a fan now. British boxing has hit the jackpot with him.

Lets get it right, it was a poor quality fight with almost no significant punches being thrown nor landing.

I watched it with three other mates and we thought that the fight never really delivered and that when you fight a champion in his backyard you should really only be given the decision if you rip the title away - which none of us thought Fury did.

But i fully accept that scoring and judging a fight is a very subjective thing, particularly in such a close fight.

Im not a hater, just an observer. Its an opinion. Im glad Fury got the decision and i hope the Fury's and Hennessy all make a shed load of money out of this but Fury really isnt the second coming.

You think after that display Klitschko should still be champion? Give over.

I really enjoyed the fight, it was tense and I had no idea what was going to happen. The growing feeling that fury had a great chance was the best bit though. I can understand how neutrals might find it boring. It's also the first time I was absolutely and categorically rooting against the guy my money was on.

I wouldnt have been surprised if he was given the decision. Going into the twelfth round the bookies had Klitschko favourite to get the decision.

Perhaps im mistaken, but Fury was hanging on in the 12th round and looking very ragged. Do you not agree?

I agree he was tired I'm the twelfth. I was more angry about his shorts to be honest as he kept trying to pull them up as Wlad was throwing, that infuriated me last night. But regardless, he made the champ look like he didn't have a clue for ten rounds, he landed the better shots and the fight was his to lose in the last round.

I've been impressed with Fury's recent discipline and looking just at this version I wouldn't suspect that he used to be a somewhat reckless fighter. He's been very Wlad-like over his last three performances, doing the most to maximize his advantages and minimize his risks even if it means that his fights aren't as enjoyable as they once were.

Fighting like that I see him doing well as champion.

Yeah, my mate was raging about the shorts. The referee really should have been getting involved and pulling them up.

Credit to Fury, Klitschko seemed gun shy and fearful of Fury. Fury was decent and was pretty much in his comfort zone. Its just frustrating that fury didnt put his foot down and show some real spite in his punching. Too many flicking arm punches for my liking. But im glad Fury won and i only wish him well. I dont accept that he was far better than Klitschko though or that he dominated him.

Would love to see Fury v. Joshua. I could see Fury having the skills to frustrate Joshua and get a points decision

Exposed! He beat the champ who hasn't been beat in 10 years, when nobody gave him a chance. And took the decision in Germany. Blindin performance, charismatic boxer, most importantly he brings excitement back. This is a rocky story boxing fans, what is there not to like.

Hmm...hardly anything of note landed, little thrown, slow pretty much throughout. Sounds like the typical Wlad fight you whine about but I'm not surprised that you 'really' liked it.

With Fury at the top the HW division will be great because we'll get more awesome fights like this!

Little chance, I feel, that fury's fights will be as boring as wlad's reign of tedium. The fact that Fury has half a clue about fighting on the inside alone will ensure this.

Maybe, though I don't see how Fury's last three fights have been any higher than Wlad's typical standard of entertainment. I also don't think Fury has nearly as much power as Wlad, so at least for me as a fan of knockouts I'm not expecting as much entertainment in that way.

Fury is great outside the ring though--maybe the funniest guy in boxing, and I mean that in a positive way.

Exposed? By desisively beating the unified champ of ten years in Germany? After a week of dirty tricks and dodgy points off?
