Was Fury exposed a bit?
Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
I thought it was a very poor fight. Both of them didn't show up. I'm still confused by the whole situation
. I don't know what I watched last night.

Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
He wasn't exposed at all. It was a pretty dull fight, two big lumps who negated each other. That said Fury was the clear winner. Best result for British boxing in years and probably the end of the sh1te Klitscko era.

Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
Wasnt a million miles away from Wilder's showing against Stiverne although Deontay did open up a few times but Stiverne and Klitschko are on different levels
I didnt criticise Wilder and i wont criticise Fury,i thought the performance was necessary for the occassion

Tyson Luke Fury was born in the Trafford district of Lancashire in 1988. Anybody can obtain a copy of his (or anyone else born in England) birth certificate from the GRO.keithmoonhangover wrote:Doesn't Fury claim to be born in Ireland?Tuan_Jim wrote:Fitzsimmons grew up in New Zealand, where he learned to fight. I'm not sure what people expected from Fury considering most thought he would be KO'd mid rounds.Dixonian wrote:Horse wrote:Dixonian wrote:
The truth is I've got nothing against Fury and I've grown to like him (barring a few eyebrow-raising comments). I think he brings charisma and showmanship to boxing. I just wasn't impressed by his performance.
He had done his homework and came in with a game plan and won the fight with it..
I know the "boxing experts" on this forum now see Wlad as a washed up over rated bum but he was the lineal champ and had hardly lost a round in 9 years.
I would understand if you thought it wasn't pretty (it wasn't) but given the one sided result it was one of the best shut downs of a dominate champ in years..
Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
Fury was great last night, boxed to a game plan, was very disciplined, came in in great shape, did what he needed to do and beat a fella who is at least a level above the rest of the division.
Now he is the man who beat the man, the lineal champ and deservedly so.

Fury got the result, that's all that matters in these fights. He did what he had to do. He has plenty of time to give 'better' performances etc

Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
Who made Wlad the lineal champion? He has never beaten a lineal champ. The retirement of Lennox Lewis dissolves the line but if you want to credit Wladimir with lineal status for beating a Chagaev or Haye the issue is that big brother was active in that period, defending the WBC belt.Mr Icaman wrote:I know the "boxing experts" on this forum now see Wlad as a washed up over rated bum but he was the lineal champ and had hardly lost a round in 9 years.
Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
Fury was excellent.
He just won an utterly convincing UD against a man who hasn't lost in 10 years, and who most people said would brutally KO him early.
And he made it look easy. Piece of p*ss.
He still has gears to go through as well, we'll see an even better Fury if they do it again. Wlad was terrible; if he stepped it up, Fury would have as well, but he had no need to.

Great win though it was, it's a bit of a stretch to describe Fury's performance as 'excellent'. There was nothing at all excellent about the fight.jamiem26 wrote:Fury was excellent.

It was an excellent performance. Fury beat the undisputed champion fairly easily.Boxerbeetle wrote:Great win though it was, it's a bit of a stretch to describe Fury's performance as 'excellent'. There was nothing at all excellent about the fight.

Andy: Will you take a look at that guy? I mean, where are the real fighters gonna come from, the pros? What we got today are Canadian jig clowns.
Rocky: Clown?
Andy: That's right, clown.
Rocky: Ya callin' Apollo Creed a clown?
Andy: Well, what else, look at him.
Rocky: Hey, Andy, are you crazy? This man is champion of the world. He took his best shot and become champ. Huh? What shot did you ever take?
Andy: Hey, Rocky, you're not happy with your life. It's nice. But me, I've got a business going, I don't have to take no shots.

He comprehensively outboxed and bamboozled Wladimir Klitschko in one of the greatest wins by a Brit ever on foreign soil. I'll stick with excellent.Boxerbeetle wrote:Great win though it was, it's a bit of a stretch to describe Fury's performance as 'excellent'. Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
Clearly we have different definitions of the word excellent. Personally I'd not use it to describe a performance where a boxer landed less than 100 punches over 12 rounds.jamiem26 wrote:He comprehensively outboxed and bamboozled Wladimir Klitschko in one of the greatest wins by a Brit ever on foreign soil. Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
I hear what you say. Im not saying he doesn't deserve any credit, but it was dull fight and the quality of boxing was dire. I get the context. I know it's a HUGE result. However, I judge a fight as I see it and I wasn't impressed.Mr Icaman wrote: I'm not sure what people expected from Fury considering most thought he would be KO'd mid rounds.

No, sorry, but it wasn't up there with the likes of Honeyghan v Curry, not even close.jamiem26 wrote:He comprehensively outboxed and bamboozled Wladimir Klitschko in one of the greatest wins by a Brit ever on foreign soil. It was a huge upset, but the quality of the win was pretty poor, it was a dreadful fight,

A week ago you would not have thought this thread could possibly exist - fury beats wlad comprehensively and is 'exposed' whilst doing so.

Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
interesting......I've not watched it yet but my opinion was good on Fury and good from a British boxing POV. Lot of bigoted, racist loser hater -types out there - and jealous too. I say good on him.Exoddus wrote:I thought it was a very poor fight. Both of them didn't show up. I'm still confused by the whole situation. I don't know what I watched last night.
No doubt Haye will probably start talking now in the hope of getting a few extra pounds in his bank account. That would be disappointing if he somehow got back in the mix. It's Fury's time now.
Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
Comprehensive and dominant victory? Absolute bollocks. Close fight more like! And good luck to Fury.
Re: Was Fury exposed a bit?
I thought it was a great fight, It felt like vlad was trying to feel fury out the whole match to see how to counter him but he never could feel him out. I think Fury will be a great champion and he will only get better. So nice seeing a british/irish boxer with such a nice personality world champion.

40 year old champ who can't pull the trigger, hardly surprising. Fury was the first guy who made himself elusive but who had the reach to clip him at distance.stio89 wrote:I thought it was a great fight, It felt like vlad was trying to feel fury out the whole match to see how to counter him but he never could feel him out.
