Is fury the victim of racism in the mainstream media?

Post by Stevieb8006 »

I'm not the sort to cry racism over the slightest thing, but there doesn't seem much goodwill around tysons victory in the major news outlets. Do you think it's because of his background?

Haye was lauded for a much less dominant victory against a far inferior heavyweight champ, he was a media darling. He got less stick than tysons getting when he wore a t-shirt with severed heads on it.

I honestly think him and his family may have a point, there is a whiff of bigotry about it.

Just a bit! The Mr Murray performance has got some crying out for him to be knighted? Doubt they will with Tyson! Shame really as Tyson's a better achievement I reckon?

I'm glad Fury won but you simply cannot compare Haye wearing a shirt with the decapated Klitschkos on with Fury comparing homosexuals to paedophiles, why shouldn't the media dislike him for it?

Great point.

Also, you could argue Joshua's Olympic gift wasn't that impressive (I thought he lost two), yet his face seems to fit. And he's a convicted criminal.

Never thought about it like that, i put it down to him being a bit gangly really, he's not fluid in his movements like most elite fighters are, couple that with his poor physique. Also, he did not do all that much in the fight, and i think the mainstream have been left scratching their heads a bit.

Dont get me wrong, i could not be any prouder of Tyson for his performance and what he accomplished. I never gave him a hope going in but was still rooting for him, i loved the whole event and the fight itself, he did a fantastic job in my mind.

Dear me. I've heard it all now. Racism? Do me a favour.

He's a character, he polarises opinion and makes no apologies for it. Good on him in some respects.

For all the bullshit David Haye plays the game better and is slightly more savvy (not that I reckon fury gives a toss) in terms of building a profile etc.

Racism? Turn it in fellas, really.

I'm glad he won, in fact I was jumping up and down, but joe public and the press are not going to be nice to him because of such views, my missus and her friends were cheering on Vlad.

Yeah I saw that. He was basically saying that in the olden days they could never imagine gay marriage would ever happen. That was his point that got twisted I think. But don't quote me, I was a bit pissed when I watched it. Hatchet job it seems

Racism? Against Caucasians? Or are you mistakingly referring to the Caravan Club as a "race"?

'One of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other is paedophilia. Who would have thought in the 50s and 60s that those first two would be legalised?'

And what context is this out of?

It's not racism - the mainstream press just dislikes boxing generally & are always happy to cover the negatives far more than the positives. And it's easy to portray Fury in a negative light because he sometimes talks rubbish, refuses to play the usual media game & doesn't give a toss what people think.

The media doesn't like the fact Fury proved them wrong, everybody was convinced Haye would win against the men who had pain in all of his bones and they weren't even right, but the old men with pain all over his body got screwed by the referees anyway and the media proudly wrote they where right.

Now the media expected Klitschko to win and were proven wrong, nobody likes to admit their mistake and neither does the media, so it will take a little while before they will admit they were wrong.

I now fully admit I was wrong, I really expected Wladimir to win this fight, but Fury's reach was very long and Klitschko still wanted to fight from distance, that's impossible, the fight became similar as the Povetkin-Klitschko fight, but at least Povetkin realised he had to fight through that distance.

Racism doesn't have much to deal with it, racism is an excuse for idiots.

Possibly but when you go around spouting bigoted remarks like he does you shouldn't expect people to warm to you either.

Hmm.

I've had trouble taking to him I must admit. He's sometimes likeable and insightful, sometimes irritating and comes out with some rubbish. Have always followed him but he never seemed to take the game very seriously and let's be honest apart from the aborted Haye fights he never really seemed keen to fight anybody particularly good. Swerved Price, sure he swerved Pulev as well didn't he? When he stepped up he fought smaller guys. I loved the Cunningham fight but nothing after that was that interesting. His physique is off putting and be doesn't have pretty technique. I think people are probably a little put off by his family, a lot of whom seem nasty intimidating bully types (hughie and peter seem alright). Also, it's easy to say we are non believers and racists but the truth is he has not looked very good in most of his fights and hasn't fought that high a standard if opponent. You can forgive people for not being able to see it. Is that annoying for Fury? I expect so. But so what? That's not racism. I just didn't think he was that good and I'm not bezzy mates with him. I'll have to see how he does in his next few fights. Lad did well though. Amazing to beat Wlad. But the fight wasn't all that either was it?

Racism? No way..... There are loads of articles in today's papers hailing his success and mentioning his gypsy background.

There are a few saying it wasn't a greta right, and they may have a point.

He's not getting much goodwill and praise because the fight was absolute garbage. It's no more complicated than that. If the fight would've been good he would've got his props. It was 2 scared chickens running from each other, one of the chickens punched arms a little bit more. So he won.

Come on give the man his due. Klitchko,s looked undeafetable for years. The mans went out there and proved the vast majority including myself wrong. Media,s not really taking to him. Tv channels not took to him etc. They ve chose joshua. David haye etc instead. I think its pretty disgusting some have chosen not to give him his full due. Snide reports in the paper for me is shocking. And really sums up the media today. Was a decent fight for me. People need to realise at that weight one punch can end a fight. Anyone expecting a gatti ward type fight were always dreaming.

Absolutely great achievement from fury. The least people can do which a lot have on here tbf is give the man his dues.

Peter and tyson told everyone they d beat klitchko and 95 percent disagreed saying no chance. Including myself. Hes went out there and done it then people come up with it was a poor fight tho...or both are useless comes across as extremely petty. The guy should get full credit for it. We ve pretty much all called it wrong. It looks like tyson fury is the real deal afterall.

Here's as much due as he deserves for it. He was less of a loser in that fight than Wladimir.

RACISM ... Someone is taking the piss ,, since when have gypsys been a race ,, Haye plays the media better ,, Joshua is a crim who plays the media better .. Tyson is Tyson , a WHITE FELLA who happens to be proud that his grandad lived in a caravan , (maybee i'm not sure ).

Travellers , gypsys whatever you want to call them , are not a race , so how can it be racism ,, Now has far has i can gather and i may be wrong , Tyson grew up in a house ,and lives in a house , if he wants to tell the world he's a traveller , so be it my parents are / were travellers , I'M NOT.

How did they become travellers , duno really , i was born in a house , at 14 i left home became whats called nowadays a street kid , reason for that , easy Mam and dad , bought a caravan , took my brother and sister , and fucked off living in the van 40 years later , they still had a van , (at balckpool actually ), but got a council house and both died there , if it was'nt for ill health they would never of got a house ,, Now do they , or did they belong to any gypsy clan , NO ,, but were they travellers ,, YES , even more so than Tyson fury ,, why you may ask, simple , because , he grew up in a house is 27 and lives in a house , they lived and travelled in a caravan for 40 years and loved it ...

So my point being Tyson may alianate people or the press , with his comments he may be proud to call himself a gypsy , because he considers himself one , thats fair enough , he may be proud to call himself a traveller , which to me is like me painting my face black and calling myself a negro , simply because my parents were travellers , they lived the life travelling , but he stays at home don't see him draagging his kids around the country in a caravan .

All in all he may alianate people but if they dislike him for his mouth , his views , his prescence , thats too bad but to say there racist is BULLSHIT .

By the way i like Tyson , i think he's a breath of fresh air , he does'nt care what people think and he speaks a load of sence ,, he was correct ,, 40-50 years ago who would of thought that , gays would be tolerated to the extent there getting married and adopting kids , 50 years ago when you went to either the protestant school or the catholic school and mam and dad made you go to church every sunday , that abortion would of been legal and accepted .

And even worse , that pedophillia would be has prevelent and cop such little jail time has it does now ,, Left wing bleeding hearts might not like what Tyson said , but he was correct in what he said . and personaly i can't see what the big deal was , he never condemmed or applauded anything he merely stated , that years ago you would'nt think it would be acceptable in the future
