Sad News about Jimmy who was one of liverpools finest. Hope you can post more on him and can you tag some more details to the photos please. I have several bits of info on him and would love to be able to do a more detailed biography on him. Please email me what you can about your dad.

Thank You Jimmy OC Jr. Great pictures of your dad in the Ring. I am not up on much English fighters from that time period except for maybe Don Cockell, but I must say your dads story would be most welcome here. Please keep posting more. And many Thanks.
I too would like to extend my condolences to you and your family on your dads passing. Believe me, I know how proud you are of his fighting career.

Great tribute to a great man. You've done him proud there. I remember interviewing Jimmy at length for his biography in Mersey Fighters 2 and speaking to him about his life and career on numerous occassions. The story about his Dad being on the Lusitania and having to slide down the side of the ship as it sunk - hence the scars on his back - is one I tell people whenever your Dads name comes up when we speak about boxers from the past. Was also privileged to speak to him in the company of a couple of men he met in the ring - Sandy manuel and Eddie Monagahn. Great respect there - especially with Sandy! Hope you liked the biog - this is what we do it for - so that family and friends can have a lasting reference and insight into their lives and careers. Mersy Fighters 3 already being researched. RIP Jimmy.

I lost my Father on September 15th 2009 he was also a Boxer that was Trained at The Crown Amateur Boxing Club. The was three up an coming hopefuls at the time from that stable; Featherweight Bobby Mason, Lightweight Jimmy O'Connell and my Dad Billy Ellaway who fought as a Welterweight as a Amateur and became a Middleweight when turning Professional in 1950. Great Photos of your Dad am sure you miss him very much as I miss mine RIP

I realise this thread is a few years old, but that tribute on youtube was nicely done.
