Klitschko not fit?

Post by Happy Slapper »

Read something on Sky Sports from Vitali hinting that Wlad wasn't fit. Do we think there is any truth in the rumours of Mrs Klitschko's post-natal depression taking Wlad's eye off the ball in what he thought would be a routine defence?

I'm not sure either way - I generally don't believe excuses and rematches normally go the same way.

Thoughts?

Klitchko pulled out of an October bout due to calf injury, then fights when not fit in November?

If he fought when he wasn't fit, then he's only got himself to blame. His performance wasn't one of a fighter who gassed out and wasn't fit, more one of a man who didn't know what to do when he wasn't the big bully against a smaller fighter who stands right in front of him eating jabs.

Think the fact neither Fury or his team were intimidated, or taken for fools, by "team Klitchko" helped. Wlad always rocks up with Vitali stood behind him on one shoulder and another big galoot behind him on the other shoulder, snarling and eyeballing the opposition. Furys were just as Big and really not arsed by them. Every "scam" Klitchkos tried was rebuffed by Furys with option of "our way or we walk away". Gloves, Ring, Wraps. Makes u wonder how many fighters over years wanted the money the fight brought and have bowed to various little "demands" (or tricks to stack cards in Wlads favour). Furys were just as crafty, and played hard ball - willing to walk away.

Shame Wlad / Vitali can't just give credit where credits due. All of his other losses have been down to chin or stamina, last sat he was outboxed and out planned.

Yeah pretty much covered everything. The Fury's handled the whole occasion brilliantly. Peter Fury seems to be an extremely well-balanced individual.

I think you hit the nail on the head there,i don't care how many defences Wlad made,he'll never be anything special in my eyes and it does make you think how many fights were loaded in his favour, the Povetkin fight was a shocking example.I really like Peter Fury and think he's done a great job and he should be proud, not so keen on John though.

Klitschko is used to holding and leaning on smaller people. He still held on in this fight, but used up more energy because Tyson was bigger and stronger.

I think it was a case of Fury having his measure. And fair play for him and his team on contesting all the sneaky manouvres from the Klitschko camp.

I think Fury will be a difficult champ to dislodge. I actually think Haye dodged a bullet there by pulling out injured. I think Fury will wipe the floor with him, if they ever box.

I think if they'd fought at the time it would have been interesting, but now i think Tyson would be too much for an older, inactive Haye.

I agree with most of that apart from Haye dodging the bullet I think Haye took time out for his shoulder to heal and watched Fury win the the title. I believe a fully fit Haye is all wrong for Fury, just too fast imo

Vlad not fit? No, don't buy into this post fight questioning. For me, it was Vlad's supreme fitness that kept him in the fight.

Peter Fury has come out of this looking absolutely golden - he's a great tactician, and has the mental strength required to become a great coach/manager. Masterful. Even the hand wraps thing blew up in team K's face - they just had to rewrap them, and must have felt really bloody stupid doing so.

Wlad seemed afraid of throwing a punch and missing, Fury would have laughed and mocked him and he didn't want that. He'd rather not throw than miss and be laughed at. He also seemed very tense, he has big muscles and tense big muscles eat up energy, hell have had heavy arms and legs after 4 rounds.

Klitschko, in the last six or so rounds, seemed to be unwilling to accept what was really happening in front of him. It didn't register until the last two rounds, that he was in serious jeopardy. And by then he was just too late. Vitali can make excuses for his brother, say all these things, but the fact remains Klitschko--- for the first time in a long time--- was forced into having to work his ass off in a fight. And he simply couldn't figure out the puzzle in front of him. After four-five rounds he was breathing heavy, and couldn't hit Fury with a handful of corn. Only his master skills of being a human octopus kept him in the fight---- he blatantly headbutted and used elbows, and still nothing changed for him. When he finally did land the right hand, Fury laughed at him. When he landed the leaping left hook, Fury dug down and threw body shots. Klitschko couldn't intimidate or outwork, or out think Tyson Fury. Even with all the advantages.

A rematch, in my view, will only show more holes in the armor of Klitschko. Because unlike Klitschko, Fury seems to get better in rematches. Chisora is proof of that. Klitschko will only be older, and more confused than ever--- it took YEARS for him remold himself into the fighter he is today--- I can only imagine this being an emotional and mental drawback that Klitschko won't recover from. "The fighter still remains," he said in the post press conference and that may be true.... he can beat any other man in the world, of that I have no doubt. But Fury, has already won the battle and the war of both the mind and physics. If Klitschko thinks conditioning alone is the problem---- it won't help, cus he still can't outbox Fury. If Klitschko thinks he needs to be more aggressive--- again it won't help because Fury is faster and harder to hit than he is. And I have a feeling, Fury didn't go all out in that fight---- because in a rematch, Fury will take it up a few more notches, and it will be something Klitschko won't expect.
