Wlad takes up rematch option.
Hamburg, December 2, 2015. After his defeat against Tyson Fury four days ago Wladimir Klitschko decided to draw the contractual option for a rematch against Fury.
Wladimir Klitschko: „I was really frustrated directly after the fight but after some short nights I now know that I want to show that I am much better than my performance on Saturday. I couldn’t show my full potential at any time. This is what I want to change in the rematch – and I will. Failure is not an option.”
Bernd Bönte, CEO Klitschko Management Group (KMG): “There will be a huge worlwide interest in this fight which already can be billed as the fight of the year 2016. We received so many questions of fans and journalists after last Saturday. The new champion and his challenger will answer all of them inside the ring.”
K2 Promotions and KMG will get in touch with Tyson Fury‘s promoter Hennessy Sports to discuss the next steps like the venue and the date of the rematch.

And the most expected event of the year occurs, as noble Wlad bravely elects to take up his option of boring us all to death yet again, and pocket a few more million for himself in the process.
Fight of the year 2016? What a load of bollox, there's not many with any sense who would pay to see that snooze fest again

...and yet it will make millions and millions of pounds, and be by far the biggest fight in the UK of next year in terms of viewers and money. So not really bollox.MightyWarrior wrote:Fight of the year 2016? What a load of bollox, there's not many with any sense who would pay to see that snooze fest again

It may make a fortune, but fight of the year candidate it almost certainly will not be.
I might not bother paying for the rematch.
Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.

Sadly, the major TV networks lost faith in boxing as a product a long time ago. Audley almost single handedly applied the coup-de-grace.charliebox324 wrote:Gernany 100%.Massive Money For Tyson TV Companies In Germany Pump Money Into Boxing Like Football. Germany does show though that the idea that boxing no longer works on terrestrial and/or free to air channels, is utter arsebollocks.

Can't be that great in Germany. Not sure how much of that money sees its way back into boxing. Their scene isn't a patch on ours.charliebox324 wrote:Gernany 100%.Massive Money For Tyson TV Companies In Germany Pump Money Into Boxing Like Football. Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
Sorry, but that is utter arsebollocks - their boxing scene is absolutely thriving. You only have to look at how slick the presentation is, and the attendance of their major events, to see how much money is flowing into the sport. We may have more active fighters (i'm guessing here, maybe not), but they are putting on lots of very well drilled shows in a regular basis.danamba7 wrote:Can't be that great in Germany. Germany has become a hub for boxers from all mainland Europe.

Is arsebollocks your favourite word!?. I'm not arsed about Rod Stewart opening up the show. Give me our fighters over there's any day is what I meant.[/quote]
I'm just on a bit of a roll - I'm enjoying every opportunity I get to use it right now - I'd forgotten about it, and I'm really enjoying it's return to my mind - it's a bit like an old friend you haven't seen for years, you want to hang out with them a lot for a while, then gradually, they start to bore you, and you stop calling so often, and before you know it, you don't even remember them any more, and with a little luck, you lose touch, and you move on to new, sparkly, more interesting friends.,
Alternatively, it's a bit like a toblerone.
On another note, I wish more than anything Rod Stewart hadn't been there - he sounded like a cat being neutered whilst simultaneously having it's tail fed through a mangle being cranked by a fidgety crack-head.

Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
Why would TV have a deciding influence on where it is? Time difference isn't an issue.
If it was over here it would still do get huge ratings on German TV.

Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
Depends which TV network has the most money to offer. In Germany I think it's ARD and ZDF that carry boxing, here the people with the money are sky - I'd imagine the fight was free to air in Germany.jamiem26 wrote:Why would TV have a deciding influence on where it is? Time zone isn't the issue, the promoters will go wherever has the best deal - if Wlad's promotional outfit K2 promotions (it is still them who do their own I believe) thought they could get a better deal by going with sky, then it's possible. The main issue though is I think that Wlad probably has a great deal with the German TV people, and already gets a slice of the Sky PPV anyway, so not sure what difference it would make. In this instance, it's hard to see how Wlad would be best served in staging a rematch outside Germany really, unless they thought they could do a Froch, and fight in front of 80,000 in Wembley, but this time without knocking George Groves out.
Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
I actually had a lot of admiration and respect for Wlad before this fight, but since the wraps, the mushy canvas and the deliberate headbutt - he's come across as a bit of a prissy twat.

Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
Would be interesting to see if Tyson would b financially better off permanently fighting in Germany. The general public and media probably give him more respect than they do here

Wonder what Tyson's pay day for the rematch be like ?
Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
There was something not quite right with Wlad through the whole build up. His entrance is usually a small documentary but this time there was nothing. He almost ran to the ring. It has to do with his wife and new born baby.

Re: Wlad takes up rematch option.
I expect Klitschko to want to come out aggressive early on and try to spark Fury out.... but I think that will be the wrong strategy to try and employ... Klitschko's strong suit has never been being aggressive... He has alot of power and precision, yes, but it won't work against a man like Fury who has shown (clearly) that he is faster, and more adjusted to Klitschko's abilities than Klitschko is of Fury's size and awkwardness.
