What a great spot! I've wondered for 20 years what became of David Bey. So it seems he stayed in China for a while, did 10 years in Vegas, then started working a job to make sure he had a pension? Looks good and sounds well for an ex-heavyweight boxer of that era. Seems a fun, jovial bloke who, reading between the lines, enjoyed himself outside the ring.

Great punchups with Greg Page, Larry Holmes, Bonecrusher Smith and Tyrell Biggs. I wonder how his heavyweight title fight with Gerrie Coetzee would have played out? He refused to fight in South Africa and so King dispatched Bey's pal Page and he came back with the title!

Yet, just a couple of years later, Bey did in fact travel to South Africa, only to lose to a KO in round 9 to Johnny du Plooy.

And he was a diminished fighter when he fought DuPlooy. Bey suffered some bad management, though i'm glad he seems strong and jovial today.

I never met him... BUT.. give my-person "credit" for his introduction which I did while in US ARMY/Europe 1978 or 79. He started 18-0 as amateur. (I also introduced James Bonec Smith when he was at USAREUR....though I never know until years past when my friend and a come to be top USAF Boxer, Mike Knight informed me of that! THE NAME TOO COMMON!)
John Wilkinson in NEW BRITAIN, CT.

ImranSarwar my ex-boss. He...had some things were "good points" if I bring out in him best qualities. But, all-in-all guy bum max! We no longer "friends" at all!
About David Bey and Johnny DuPloy, THEIR you have it very nice a.t. rating analysis!¡ pretty close between these two!
By the way, I am "open" work wise..

David Bey Quiz Question.

Which singer did Bey date for a while when he was a prospect?

A point for the singer.

A point for naming one songs.

A point for her dad's name.

Bonus point for knowing who David beat in his debut - no looking it up. :shame:
