Wembley booked for Brook vs Khan.

Post by Old Jack J »

So Matchroom say they have booked Wembley in June in anticipation of Brook vs Khan.

A step closer?

It's bound to happen now, Floyd and Manny weren't interested, Brook is the only big pay day out there for him really.

They've still got to meet next week and Chavez / Bizier situation needs to be sorted out but I think this fight will happen now

I would really like this fight but I don't think it does massive numbers like froch v groves did, fury v klit, fury v haye, fury v aj, Frampton v quigg or any froch fight would do

brook does not sell out Sheffield or either did khan in the last uk fight
I know that when the face each other it would be bigger but I honestly think they have overestimated this fight

Fury is the king now and Aj is hot on his heals

these are the monster fights now

I'm guessing for Khan-Brook, Camp Eddie would have to put at least one probably more big ticketsellers, AJ + AN Other, to even get close to selling wembley?

I'd buy a ticket just for the main event and I live in the norf. :TU:

How else is he going to sell Bizier, throw Khans name in there thats how.

Hopefully its not just diversion tactics from Hearn.

Wouldn't old Trafford have made more sense? With both being northern boxers

If Kevin Mitchell wins next weekend it would be nice to see him on that bill. He seems to have a decent following and I enjoy his fights.

If I'm a Celeb is anything to go by, Eubank v Benn as a co-main event would be amusing. The sad thing is it will actually sell tickets.

80,000 for these 2? Can't see it myself, Khan isn't the draw he used to be.

Agree that old Trafford or even Fleetwood town would be more suitable

Khan has crossover appeal and is rarely in a dull fight. I think it would sell more tickets than Fury-Klit II.

People know who he is, I agree. I think most don't particularly care these days though. I don't like the phrase but I'll use it here, people see him as a busted flush.

They'll think if brook can't beat him then they're both shit rather than its a best of the welter fight

If I had to pick between both fights I'd obviously pick Brook/Khan but Fury is getting a lot of media exposure at the moment and seems to be capturing a lot of the publics imagination so I reckon him v Wlad would sell no problem with the casuals on board.

A hell of a lot of people In the Asian community will turn up to see him. He still has a massive following. Then half of Sheffield will go down for Kell, then boxing fans and plenty of sports fans that like occasional big fights. It's a MASSIVE fight mate.

I imagine it will sell because it will be a spectacle. People will go just to say they were there...

Think it would sell if there was a good underdcard or joint headliners. Mitchell/Crolla, Selby/Warrington, Aj/Chisora then at a push Degale/Groves 2, Eubank jnr/bjs 2 :bag:

Khan has never been a draw, here or in the states. He needs a dance partner the magnitude of a Marco Antonio Barrera to draw a crowd.
