Martynov was a lightweight but lacked a chin!silkov wrote:To think that we used to moan about the recent BBC coverage... which was almost proffessional by comparison to ITV.... it seems the people behind British TV have just not a clue as to how to present boxing anymore... they've forgotten that the main thing that the fans want to see are FIGHTS!!!!.
As for Khan!, his people are boasting now that he's ready for anyone, a title bout even!!! yet he still hasn't fought a natural Lightweight yet!... its a total farce!!!....
Dreadful ITV coverage

Hi Max, fair enough u feel that the lad could not take a punch, but am wondering what makes u come to that conclusion? Cos I presume that would rely on you knowing that the punch that floored him was not genuinely powerful enough. Not sure how u would come to that conclusion unless Khan through the exact same punch against a fighter well known for having a granite chin. My point is we can only go on what he did in that fight and there was everything to suggest that it was a hard punch. Looked powerful and fast - knocked him off his feet, dazed the guy.Max Molyneux wrote:Martynov was a lightweight but lacked a chin!silkov wrote:To think that we used to moan about the recent BBC coverage... which was almost proffessional by comparison to ITV.... it seems the people behind British TV have just not a clue as to how to present boxing anymore... they've forgotten that the main thing that the fans want to see are FIGHTS!!!!.

The punch was not that good to put him down. It looked like Martynov's lack of balance did it than Khan's feather punches.
I know he's only in with Journymen at the moment but give him a guy who can punch and have chin.
Was stopped a bit early he was doing all that blinking before the fight.
The Gethin fight shouldn't of even been stopped at that time it was just Khan's speed bothering him not his punch.
If Khan gets beat then people will start saying he turned pro too early too.

Too early for that and he ain't old enough for a domestic title even if he beat the guy.Coconut wrote:Sorry fist, but if you get stopped by Willie Blain then there have to be questions over your chin.
Khan's very good but there's hot talk about him stepping up to championship level now whereas a decent domestic light-welter would be a good start.
You don't know what you're talking about, the guy has fought mostly at 130... just because he came in at the same weight doesn't make him a natural 140 fighter!.... Mcguigan said as much after the fight....fist wrote:Not the point. You said Khan had not fought someone genuinely his own weight. The guy was same height and same weight, just with more experience. Perfectly fine match up. Khan showed exceptional speed and strength. Job well done.silkov wrote:Height has got nothing to do with it, there are featherweights and Bantamweights the same height as Khan, I suppose they would be a good match too?. Just u. Vitali Martynov was more experienced. And for the record, he was the same height as Khan and in terms of weight, there was only half a pound between them. Perfectly fine match up. You r just gutted cos Khan did so well.
Come back when you can say something other than schoolboy insults...
Niy picking. The bloke was same height and weight, end of. And Khan kicked his ass. He be the real deal. Stop being jealous and bitter!!!silkov wrote:You don't know what you're talking about, the guy has fought mostly at 130... just because he came in at the same weight doesn't make him a natural 140 fighter!.... It was shit matchup in my opinion. What did khan learn against fighting someone like that! sweet FA!, you can judge someone by their record, but because they have one 11 fights 7 by KO or whatever his record was, dosn't mean to say that he is good fighter and it's Khans toughest test yet - rubbish!, The fella could have fought 11 bums and knocked seven of them out, dosn't make him good, would you rate Audley? after all looking at the stats on his record its great int it!Not the point. Sorry mate, but just because I criticise Khan doesn't make me jealous of him, wake up! he hasn't done anything to be jealous of yet!. If you had any sense you may realise I am actually concerned about the kids development as a fighter, ...if Khan gets tripped up when he finnally fights someone who can hit back don't tell me I didn't tell you so!fist wrote:Niy picking. He's quoted on Teletext as saying he will retire at 26?.... this is about the 4th time I've heard him talk about retirement. If he's thinking about it now I dont see him boxing till he's 26... once he's made some monay and the training becomes harder he'll do a Hamed...jomothepure wrote:WTF? Either that or he froze.Terence wrote:BUT the moment the bell rang one thing was clear, his opponent had very little fighting ability.
Either way Khan will have learnt nothing from that fight. They kept making a big deal about it being his first six round fight, but the distance is of no relevence if the opponent can last untill the final bell.
I shall reserve my final judgement on Khans World class potention untill he has been in with better and much more durable oppotition.

Thanks for that. Caught up with things now - he's going to peak when he's "21 or 22" so that retiral age makes sensesilkov wrote:He's quoted on Teletext as saying he will retire at 26?.... this is about the 4th time I've heard him talk about retirement.
