Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Did Wlad come in weighing too light? Didn't seem to be able to push Fury back in the clinches?
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
That's is because Fury was stronger, bigger, younger and better

No. Wlad is just old and shot. Wlad weight was good. His accuracy, speed and reflexes weren't.

Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
No, he wasn't too light. He was overly cautious and put off his rhythm by Fury who was tactically very good. Had Wlad been heavier, he would have been slower and probably done even worse. Boxing isn't wrestling, once you get to a certain point, extra weight is more often a disadvantage than an advantage.
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
1lb lighter than Fury?
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Sometimes it's tough to follow what Roy Jones Jr is saying while calling fights but he really does give you an insight that you can't get from other announcers. He mentioned during the fight that Wlad was clinching too high on Fury because he's so accustomed to being the taller guy in the ring. So he was constantly grabbing Fury too high so instead of clutching under the armpit. Instead he was pushing to get a front headlock which seems so much more exhausting to me. Could it be possible that Wlad didn't spar with anyone taller than himself in preparation for this fight? If so, it's a huge error on his part. It seemed like Wlad was getting that look for the first time. I know it's not easy to find a sparring partner 6'9" but you should have grabbed someone just to mimic the movement in some way. He was totally lost in there.

No.
He would only have been slower.
He was never going to out muscle and bully Tyson

Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
He's weighed between 238lbs and 249lbs since 1999. He's been between 242-248 for last 7 years! He came in 245 for Fury fight.
To put it in context Fury has been between 245 - 274 in last 3 years!
Wlad a 6lb swing in 7years, Fury a 30lb swin in 3 years.

Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Weight had nothing to do with it. If Wlad himself can't figure out what he needs to do different, he will get his ass handed to him worse next time. Tying up when way behind? (by the way he deserved the rabbit punches for turning his back) No work to the body? Lowest punch output of any championship fight, ever. Back in the old days performances like that would have been NC, and he wouldn't even get a paycheck. He really was that pathetic.

Yeah, he was just an old shot fighter, who nobody could beat.
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
His weight was normal Fury's was under weight registered by the official scales Fury was probably around 18 stone 2. Wlad was the correct just too gunshy to go after Fury.

I think his body weight was alright.
However, the 10 pound weight he had in his right glove ...

I think Boxing Writer meant IN THIS FIGHT he was old & shot. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened to a veteran.Rexob wrote:Boxing Writer wrote:No. Wlad is just old and shot. Wlad weight was good. His accuracy, speed and reflexes weren't.
Yeah, he was just an old shot fighter, who nobody could beat.

Some people need excuses when things don't go as they thought. Just give Fury the praise he deserves, by beating a long reigning champion who not many thought would lose.

I get your point.Rexob wrote: Some people need excuses when things don't go as they thought. Just give Fury the praise he deserves, by beating a long reigning champion who not many thought would lose.
Personally I think Wlad would have beaten most fighters last weekend but will always have struggled with Fury who's bigger than him, more mobile & fearless.
We'll see in the rematch if Klitschko can improve his performance. It will be interesting to see what strategies Tyson uses. He doesn't want to get too careless or overconfident.

I wrote in another thread that Fury would give any version of Wlad a very tough fight with his size and his style.Rexob wrote:Taansend wrote:I think Boxing Writer meant IN THIS FIGHT he was old & shot. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened to a veteran.Rexob wrote:

Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
No Wladimir had by sparring partners like Adrian Granat 6'8, Richard Towers 6'8 and Zeus Mazyck 6'9. The problem is they are all slow, and do not have the ability of Fury. The problem was Wladimir was not prepared for Fury's style that night. Fury was using a jerky feinting style, that mad Wladimir unsure of when to throw punches. After he has watched the tapes I'm sure he has seen his mistakes, and realises he needs to be more aggressive.

Klitschko was just avarage, his weight wasn't any odd

I'm talking about his weight, it's between 240 and 250 for years and years now.Rexob wrote:asdfjkl wrote:Klitschko was just avarage, his weight wasn't any odd

And Fury schooled him, whatever KLITS weight was, it would still be the same result ..........Pain.......
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Wlad weighs the same more or less every time out. He just didn't fight. That's all there is to it. All of you looking for a reason for why he lost can't see the answer right in front of your face. HE JUST DIDN'T FIGHT.
It's no more complicated than that. If he'd fought he could've won.

Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Indeed, he's used to have the longer reach, but this time that wasn't the case, so he slowly lost more and more rounds and realised that around the 8th round when it was too late.
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Yes he will be, after loosing to Fury
Re: Did Wlad come in weighing too light?
Wlad's weight was OK.
He fought Fury like he expected him to be somewhat improved version of Wach - where Wlad could still outspeed Wach and control the fight without changing his standard style too much, even without usual size advantage. I have to admit I also expected something like that, but (though the fight was hardly watchable) Fury did his job properly - he was quicker than expected, frustrated Wlad and (unlike the majority of his opponents) came to fight and not only to collect the paycheck.
