Duva Makes Punks Out Of Her Fighters?

Post by koolkc107 »

She's done it again.

First, she makes Kovalev a duck by running away from the purse bid she herself engineered.

Now she puts duck feathers on Glazkov, running away from a fight with Wilder in order to force
a purse bid on a fight with Fury which she knows will never happen, since Wlad is using his rematch clause.

http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/14 ... -purse-bid

So Glazkov could wind up with a version of the title without having to fight Wilder, Fury or Klitschko for it
(he would have to actually face a live body in the ring for the vacant title tho).

So the question is this...how much of this is on Kathy Duva?

All? Some? None?

Is it the fighters responsibility and duty to overrule the promoter and force the showdowns we all want to see?

And do you think it is a duck if that doesn't happen?

I do.

Your thoughts?

i blame the ibf entirely.
wlad was the consensus #1 guy and there would have been no talk of
him being stripped if he beat fury as expected and didn't immediately
face an ibf mandatory. time for fury to pull a riddick bowe and throw
the belt in the trash during a press conference and vow never to fight
for it again

Yeah, the sanctioning body has to own a lot of this.

But, it is still Kathy Duva taking her fighters out of paydays.

Say it goes just like she is manipulating and Glazkov ends up with the title.

How enthusiastic will Fury or Wilder be to face a guy that ran from them, caused them monetary headaches, and has zero box office?

She is screwing her fighters, not helping them. Look at Kovalev, a guy who might be top 2 P4P
forced to hope a fight he could have had earlier this year can still be made, or that a former 168 pound champ can get popular enough in 2 fights for a good showdown payday late next year.

Sooner or later, her fighters are going see it for what it is and want out.

Duva made a serious mistake trying to engineer Glazkov vs Martin because she is seriously underestimating Martin. Martin will KTFO Glazkov for a small payday, and she cost her fighter a bigger payday assuming he would win the title against an opponent who is relatively unknown.

That was fcking embarrassing, she made Kovalev fight an eliminator to put him in a mandatory position to fight Adonis right? Then withdrew from the negotiations, what a stupid move that was and she cant blame the rival TV companies because she would have known that problem before making Kovalev fight for that mandatory spot. She's an idiot.

Well, no one would call her moves genius.

She didn't even try to make it happen.

The only thing that prevented the fight was Duva not wanting to be outbid by Haymon and the PBC.

But what might have been really shrewd on her part was to negotiate with Haymon before the bid (while threatening to walk)
so that they could get better terms AND HBO could get a bone from his stable in the event that the PBC won the bid for Kovalev/Stevenson.

PBC or Showtime gets Adonis/Sergei. In return Haymon lets one of his guys fight on HBO (maybe with Duva- and even Sergei- getting a piece).

For example, HBO allows the fight and in return Thurman or Khan fight Bradley or Crawford on HBO.

I am certain HBO would have let Kovalev out of his contract for the one fight if such a scenario was offered.

Isn't Martin with Haymon now?
She could be playing into PBC's hands if Glazkov loses. They would have 2 belts to share amongst their stable, and would negotiate hard for options on challengers to grow the PBC

Yes he is. And promoted by King Sports.

And if he is the guy Glazkov winds up fighting, there is a good chance Duva has screwed Glazkov royally.

Martin is no joke.

Even if Glazkov beats Martin (and that is no gimme) what happens then?

You think Fury is in a hurry to fight a guy that couldn't wait his turn?

You think Wilder is going to give any better deal to a guy that walked away from a done deal?

Who is Glazkov going to fight that gives him the same money he just ran away from?

And congrats to the IBF for crapping on the two most lucrative heavyweights in the game after Wlad
in one moronic stroke.

Glazkov will get paid to take a life altering beating by someone like Anthony Joshua and then disappear to work the salt mines with Valuev and Sultan Ibragimov.

If he is lucky.

But there will be problems making that one if Duva holds to form.

You know Hearn aint gonna let Kathy shortchange Joshua, belt or no belt.

They are not going to let Glazkov get a penny more than he deserves.
