Meeting between two biggest punchers

Post by JC »

Who are the two biggest punchers to have met in the ring? The best example I can think of is Gerald McClennan vs Julian Jackson.

Are there any fights between two bigger punchers than those two?

I'd say Joe Frazier v. George Foreman is a step above McClennan and Jackson :TU:

Have to say that is a great shout, not too familar with either man's career, though I'd heard of them both in connection to their punching power. Nice one :box:

There was a lot of hoopla surrounding the Zarate and Zamora bout. Zarate came in with a record something like 48-0-0 (47 KO) and Zamora came in at 29-0-0 (29 KO). Both were considered to be two of the biggest punching fighters P4P in history and expected the bout to be a lot more of a shoot-out than it turned out to be...Zarate was just too much for Zamora and pretty much had his way with him. But there have been many, many encounters throughout history which have pitted two of the biggest hitters of a division against each other, usually with pretty exciting outcomes.

Thatls very true, and I'm sure there are far too many to list. What made me post the question in the first place was that I re-watched Jackson McClennen and was trying to think of another fight were each fighter had the one-punch power to stop the other in their tracks without having to wear them down first.

Some of the guys with the best KO percentages, while vicious punchers in their own right, earned their records as much from the ferocity of their attacks as the weight of their shots (Pryor, Frazier) others just seemed to have the power to call on when they needed it most (Foster, Jackson).

Some great examples given so far. :TU:

Here is one possibly forgotten about. Artie Levine vs. Suger Ray Robinson. Levine came close to banging Ray out of there.
