Where is David Price??

Post by sir123 »

Is he even returning?

Really liked this guy, was poorly managed and should never have gone for the rematch with TT straight after the loss. Was all downhill after that.

He should have been in with Thompson in the first place. He should have had another dozen fights before fighting a world class opponent.

hopefully he shows up on a Liverpool fight card soon.
Fr@nk W@rren, Flanagan vs. Matthews card in Feb would be good. Maybe with Gary Cornish? Should get the win and get back on track.
Couple of wins and he can get in with fellow Sauerland HW Dereck Chisora.
Price still has a name and there are fun fights out there to make with him...

Would it have mattered in the long run though?

Really comes across well as a person but is fundamentally flawed as a fighter. I'd like to see him doing punditry but it seems you have to have achieved a bit more to have your opinion respected in this arena.

Wish him all the best whatever he decides to do.

Yes it would have mattered. He should have continued to fight boxers with different styles as he gradually moved up. Building confidence and improving technique as he went. Look at Lennox Lewis' record, when he was blasting everyone out, Frank Maloney brought over Ossie Occasio to give him some rounds. Price should have been fighting someone like Zack Page inbetween title defences, then European and fringe contenders.

Price went from racing a Fiesta to racing Formula 1, with nothing in the middle.

Good point. Things may have turned out differently, I just always see him coming unstuck before he got a title shot.

He'll always be able to bang and has decent skills but might be shot mentally at this point.

I'd love to see a magical David Price comeback story, because he seems a sound fella, he's really up against it though at this point.

Price was extremely fragile dating back to his amateur days and has looked the same as a pro....maybe he could've been better prepared for a step near world class level, but I think that most contenders would've gotten to his chin and found him out anyway.

He needs a new trainer and he also needs to use a hypnotherapist. Nigel Benn used one for several fights including the Mclellan fight.

I know, it's a scandalous situation.
Between those 2 and having to listen to Tony Bellend, I'm not sure why I even bother putting the boxing on.

Pretty woeful on the whole isn't it?

Not a fan of Froch at all, think he can be a bit of a tosser himself (Golovin at 172lb? Yeah, ok Carl, why not).

To be fair to him though, he's probably Sky's best pundit and I really like the way he breaks a fight down. One of the rare positives when tuning into a Sky broadcast.

David Price is pretty finished. The Thompson loss destroyed him.

He bottled his attempt at a European title, and I will be amazed if he ever even makes it at that level.

He could return to British level, to see if he could knock people at that level out, but what'd be the point? Nice guy, but should retire.

I'd have thought Price needs to be busy first against anyone, everyone.

Is Thompson really Formula 1? Especially the near 40 year old version Price faced. I think the loss to Thompson proved Price's level and he would have been found out regardless.

We all forgot about that when he was knocking people out left and right. There was a thread asking if Price was the hardest hitting heavyweight ever, I'm not kidding!

I used to be the designated driver for the David Price bandwagon but his chin, stamina and heart are nowhere near the level of his right hand. He was exposed at fringe world level and then more recently at Euro level. If he came back, he could knock over a couple more journeymen before getting KO'd again when stepping up. Don't really see the point.
