Danny Garcia

Wow Danny Garcia either has to be the most protected fighter or the biggest coward, looks like he is digging up another stiff this time the badly faded Robert Guerrero who has looked horrible.
And this guys father wonders why the boxing press shows no respect for his son.

Danny has a solid resume overall and Peterson was a respectable foe, but this is his second straight 'name' fight against a shopworn opponent. Guerrero's name may look good on Garcia's resume, but if people can get past that and actually watch Ghost's last two performances--hardly winning a round against Thurman and scraping by Martinez--they should see that he doesn't have much left.

Remember that Martinez has 4 stoppage wins in 25 fights:

It is a real shame that he has taken this path. I was very impressed with his performance against Matthysse, but since that time he appears to have gone down hill.

Isn't he caught between weights? I thought he was trying to grow and get established at welter? On form he's a very good boxer with power, he needs to be out more though.

guerrero is okay for an opponent, if you wanna start into a new division, nevertheless, ones danny enters the ring with a top 4 welterweight like pac, thurman, brook, spence, that it will be his downfall. he already lost to this herrera guy, but those 4 crush him into pieces, or school him technicly.

I think it's a good fight for Garcia. He's going to need a couple of these at 147 before we start seeing him take on the brass. Guerrero won't be around long if he can't avoid the left hand though. Garcia's left can make the trip to 147.

He is doing the same thing as Khan has done, but Khan gets a ton of abuse for it. He is picking softish opposition. Someone going up the weights as a reigning champ should have one settling fight then either a title fight or a recent champ.

Isn't this only the 2nd fight at welter for Garcia? Guerrero isn't a bum, and is a decent opponent for someone fairly new to the weight. Garcia said he will fight Khan, or anyone they put in front of him, so for now it will be a good measuring stick to see where he is at.

I personally thought Garcia lost to Lamont Peterson but I'm in the minority. Yeah Lamont did a bit too much running around and I can see that as a valid criticism. But in no way was Danny ever in control of that bout. And towards the end he was taking a beating.

I agree that he lost to Peterson. I also thought he lost to Herrera.

He is a coward North Americans are becoming experts at this. Just see Thurman, Stevenson, Alverez and the list goes on and on.

He is INCREDIBLY overrated. He should have 2 losses and cant fight anyone with decent movement. It took him 9 rounds to beat a commentator ffs.

who was supposed to be involved?

WBC's top 6 are
1. Amir Khan
2. Danny Garcia
3. Shawn Porter
4. Lamont Peterson
5. Andre Berto
6. Robert Guerrero

That would actually throw up some interesting fights and rematches. Is it actually achievable with promotional issues?

How is he the most protected when he's faced all comers?? He has faced more champs/former champs than anyone in his weight class, he hasn't always won but he's given a great account of himself facing the best competition despite the Salka fight.

He seems to fight up or down to the level of competition, but always finds a way to win. How many here thought he would beat Khan or Matthysse?

I think taking on Ghost now is the right thing being new to the weight. After all he was willing to fight Khan too. Got to give him Credit for what he's done so far.

Danny has fought some good opposition.
Yes he's had a couple stinkers in his last 5 but I doubt it was anything to do with Danny, he certainly seems willing to fight whoever is put in front of him.

He's not the no1 at welter and will lose eventually but I see him being a live threat to any of the top names and think it's more likely they will see him as not worth the risk.
I don't imagine Danny would be inclined to knock back Khan, Brook, Thurman, Bradley or Porter and he'd probably bite your hand off for Pacquiao

Who did you have beating him?

I had him beating Peterson and Matthysee and don't think I saw the Herrera fight
