Exactly. Everyone's pro-freedom of speech until the hear something they don't like... Personally I think he needs to grow the f**k up. Stopping listening to an imaginary friend who lives the sky might help.bugs wrote:I wonder how many people defending his right to say homophobic and misogynistic hateful crap were also defending Anthony Small when he was spouting his hateful bile? With the the full transcript of the interview going up, Tyson must be finding it a bit tough to to defend that 'I was misquoted' line. So we can probably add threatening a journo for publishing what he said to the list of things that make him a bit of a knob. Maybe they'll start a tape doctoring conspiracy theory? Because that makes more sense than a man who has previously stated homophobic and misogynistic views in public saying something stupid again, doesn't it?
The police investigation will take 5 minutes, but given that some precious little flower WILL have had a moan, they will have to be seen to act. All those accusing people of getting their knickers in a twist should stop getting their knickers in a twist.
What raises a wry smile is how so many ultra-alpha badmen, as Tyson clearly fancies himself, fail to stand behind their remarks once it all gets a bit warm. "I was misquoted!" "Tyson loves all humans!" "My mate will kick your head in!" Someone call Alanis Morissette so she can see what irony actually looks like.

I might not agree with Fury or Small but I support their right to express their views.bugs wrote:I wonder how many people defending his right to say homophobic and misogynistic hateful crap were also defending Anthony Small when he was spouting his hateful bile? I still can't believe that we have allowed our society to criminalize the expression of ideas. When you criminalize the expression of ideas you accept that some ideas are so powerful that they can't be countered with logic and reason.
Our American cousins by no means have a perfect society but I do find it admirable that their constitution enshrines real freedom of speech into law.
Re: Police investigating Fury comments now
What Tyson said was no different to the preaching of Christian evangelists I hear in supermarket car parks at the weekend. What do I do? I walk on like everybody else. Each to their own and all that.
Re: Police investigating Fury comments now
Our freedom of speech is enshrined in common law, and freedom of expression in the Human Rights Act. Specific curbs are put on total freedom of expression, as they are in any country. These range from the good (I citing violence against others etc) to the not so good (being a bit of a pest for the police).nfc90210 wrote:I might not agree with Fury or Small but I support their right to express their views.bugs wrote:I wonder how many people defending his right to say homophobic and misogynistic hateful crap were also defending Anthony Small when he was spouting his hateful bile? What's very worrying is the slow mission creep of these curbs. I think most people would agree that freedom of expression shouldn't extend to death threats, incitement to violence or sharing kiddie porn, but we now have laws that, at least in theory, prohibit words intended to cause offence.
Thankfully the fact that we aren't all going through court cases shows that a combination of the Old Bill, the CPS and the courts tend to rein in the worst of such idiotic laws, but that's irrelevant - they shouldn't be there in the first place.

You should march round to the police station and make a complaint on behalf of everyone that doesn't.Ketchel wrote:What Tyson said was no different to the preaching of Christian evangelists I hear in supermarket car parks at the weekend. Re: Police investigating Fury comments now
Anthony small is an asshole. He has a right to protest military action but I say he crossed a big line by condoning and even showing appreciation for the beheading of journalists.
To compare Small to Fury is a little of considering Fury is not wanting anyone beheaded but hey as long as you want to make your point

Re: Police investigating Fury comments now
I think the only people Fury has preached violence to is tabloid headline grabbing journalists. I lose a lot more sleep to innocent women and children being killed.
Re: Police investigating Fury comments now
Fury has the right to express his opinion,
the general public have the right to express their outrage at his opinion,
no crime has been committed by either side,
the police can now back to dealing with actual criminals, simple.

Great comment. I mean Fury's not a respected psychologist or politician.... he doesnt set policy and anyone with an inch of brain knows few people in this day and age are likely to hang off his word. Plus the fact his words were disingenuously interpreted.keirw wrote:Fury has the right to express his opinion,

This is the price he will pay beign the champion now. A human cash machine for everyone. Before he beat WK no one cared what Fury said, now he's the champ the police want to talk to him!! P iss take. Now they've stripped him from one of his belts. Joke, only in boxing
They should leave the man alone to enjoy his achievements. Like what Mike Tyson said "everyone wants a piece of you"

The police have said it was not a hate crime, it was a hate incident and that no criminal offence had taken place, no further action will be taken.
