Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
Pretty good fight, easily Nonito's best opponent since Walters wrecked him. It's on TruTV for my fellow Americans who get that channel.
Since the card is in PR the official main event is Verdejo vs. some Brazilian cab driver but Donaire/Juarez is definitely the highest profile fight.

By the way, it's Cesar Juarez, not Rocky Juarez.

Is this for the WBO?
Re: Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
Donaire loses to the top level, not to this level. Easy win.

Re: Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
Yea, it's for Donaire's old belt which was stripped from Rigondeux for inactivity. Juarez is technically the #1 contender for the belt while Donaire is #2 respectively, but from what I see Juarez doesn't have many fights past 10 rounds, an up n comer, but anything could happen, but yea Donaire if he really wants to climb his way back to the top and really wants it should easily take this fight in the bag. Up to him, really.

With a title Donaire will hopefully get a big fight.
The winner or loser of Frampton-Quigg would be fun.

Donaire is taking this guy to school. Already rd 3 and in total control. Surprised Juarez didn't go down in rd 1 or 2.

Donaire is really teaching me the art of counter punching. So subtle yet deadly.

This is suspicious as hell! Donaire hit him with everything but the kitchen sink. I'm thinking this guy is on drugs. Never backing a fight outside of the U.S. and U.K. again.

So glad I am taping this.

Nonito Donaire fading!?!?!?
At 33 is he fading? Is the power gone!? He hit this guy with everything but the kitchen sink! Was Cesar Juarez on drugs? I don't trust these Puerto Rican and Mexican commissions (I am from PR) So many questions need answering. Please, watch this fight and let me know your guys' opinion!

Re: Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
I'm not impressed with Juarez with exception that he has good endurance and can take a punch.
Re: Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
Juarez fits the bill as someone on PEDs. He took a massive beating and got stronger as fight went on. That doesn't happen naturally.

I'd love to see Donaire in another big fight at super-bantam.
I feel like he's still got a couple of good years in him.

Turned out to be a really good fight. I think Donaire/Quigg would have been good but with Quigg occupied and nobody interested in a Rigo rematch there aren't a lot of big fights out there for Nonito.

Re: Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
Would love to see Donaire v the Frampton Quigg winner. Hope that fight is in HBO to set it up but Frampton is a Haymon fighter so Showtine is more likely.jujigatame wrote:Turned out to be a really good fight. Nonito would be struggling for a decent fight otherwise :(

Re: Donaire vs. Juarez tonight
Donaire too easily lets his opponent dictate the fight. In this case, he let a guy who's basically a B-/C+ kinda fighter brawl with him and lay in some heavy blows. Nonito was lucky to get out of there with a W, regardless of what the cards said. He should have had a knockdown assessed against him and Juarez had him reeling at points.
This is a pattern that's existed for awhile though. He's boring if the opponent doesn't engage, can get outboxed if they give him some awkward looks (like with Darchinyan in the 2nd fight and obviously Rigondeaux), can end up in a war with someone if they don't fold to his deadly-at-flyweight-not-so-much-at-featherweight power. He's not "finished" yet, but he's well above his most successful weight and is just never gonna be an elite level guy ever again.
