How much more evidence does Roy need to know his time has come?

If only Roy was in his prime so that he could have talked about fighting cruiserweights and fought Tony Thornton instead.

I never understood why Jones held on as long as he did.... If he wanted the Cruiserweight title, he should have went after it the moment he left heavyweight... timing is everything, and unfortunately we have seen this occur too often in sports... all I can say is (what makes this more tragic or sad) is that he lost on a brutal knockout to a man who is also washed up... had he lost to a young guy, all in his prime, a prospect, or champion it could have been forgivable or excusable. Not this time.

Now... I could joke and say its a gypsy curse :P after all Jones in the HBO telecast dared put Bobby Gunn's name in the same sentence as Tyson Fury's during the Klitschko fight... which is a disgrace to gypsies and travellers everywhere

He should've retired several years ago. The Danny Green Loss should've been it for him, hell really he should've retired after losing a one sided decision to Calzaghe and really not trying to win or being able to try to win.

I despise Bleacher Report, but they put out a really good story about Jones:

http://thelab.bleacherreport.com/roy-jo ... g-goodbye/

According to that, he's never once thought of retiring. He planned on possibly doing so after winning a Cruiserweight title and one more fight at home...

Should have been retired before that fight.

Right after the Glen Johnson fight. After a slow start Roy tried to win that one but quickly gave up when he discovered Johnson wasn't going to go away without a fight.

not even a shadow of the old roy left. he looked like he trained on vodka and kielbasa.
i mean, he was slower than the young roy in his last few fights, but still had flashes looking
like his old self here and there and looked like he could still beat most journeymen.
this time out he looked like a statue with no defense at all other than an occasional duck.
he doesn't move his feet anymore AT ALL and can't block or parry or brush or avoid.
the guy can't defend himself anymore. pull his license. if enzo was more aggressive he
could have gotten roy out of there much sooner but it took him a while to figure out how
helpless roy is at this stage.

Yeah he only tried to fight for one round against Glen. Round 6, that didn't work, and he just gave up mentally.

All of the fights he's lost since, he basically lost like Muhammad Ali did against Larry Holmes. Just laying on the ropes, and waiting for it to all be over.

Roy is broke.

There's no possible other explanation.

I think that Jim Lampley needs to sit RJJ down and before Jim cries again, tell him that it's all over.

Watching that fight made me feel old and fat too. I don't care how old he is, that physique isn't a physique that went through any kind of training camp. He was gassed in the first round.

Don't these people have families? I'm fairly certain that Roy has like 38 children from 39 women so doesn't anyone care about the guy? Somewhere in Vegas, in the VIP room of a strip club, Floyd's sitting back saying "THAT, ain't gonna be me".

That was probably one of the funniest brutal knockouts I've ever seen. Roy fell like a tree, face-planting on the canvas.

Not training enough and fighting at a wrong weight class are other ones.

The first three rounds were competitive, and while I had Maccarinelli ahead (I gave him 2nd and 3rd, could not decide on 1st), Roy was far from being dominated. It was just his chin that gave up.

I have no problem with RJJ continuing... he did not take much beating, so if he keeps fighting on proper level and still gets some $$$ for that, it is his choice.

Come one, man. He didn't take a sustained beating, but that KO was like being a car crash. He can't keep doing that if she wants to maintain a working brain.

Jones Jr will still be fighting when he's 56!

As he is fond of saying, nobody told him to start boxing, so nobody should tell him when to stop.

He's beyond shot, but if that's the path he is choosing, let him go down it.

It's up to the authorities to save him from himself & if they're not bothered, Jones Jr knows the risks.

He didn't take much of a beating simply because Maccarinelli didn't really sock it to him earlier.

If Enzo had jumped on him earlier & put some hurt on him, he would either have splattered Jones Jr inside couple or given him the mother of all beatings until levelling him at some point.
